Last time when Sergeant Nkosi appeared in court, I observed that as his name was called from the register, and he comes up the stairs, he avoided looking to the side of the public. You know how someone would look to see who is there in court to support them, maybe lock eyes with family members for some reassurance of sorts to say ok, they are here, I'm fine don't worry about me, or something. He never even turned his head to check.
You can see a lady and gentleman on the benches on the third row. Someone guessed it could be his wife and brother Bheki, but obviously we wouldn't know, just guessing. It's just an observation I made. Maybe a psychological thing which I don't know what it would mean.

NPA files formal complaint with the Magistrate Commission against Chief Magistrate Tonjeni.
English

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has lodged a formal complaint with the Magistrates Commission against Chief Magistrate Tuletu Tonjeni following her handling of the case involving Madoda Johannes Sibanyoni and others in Kwaggafontein on 15 and 18 May 2026.
According to the NPA, the complaint stems from serious concerns over the manner in which the proceedings were conducted, resulting in orders that found the prosecutor in contempt of court, authorised a warrant for his arrest, and struck the criminal case off the roll under Section 342A of the Criminal Procedure Act.
The NPA has already filed a notice seeking leave to appeal the contempt of court ruling and the arrest warrant. It says the decision to approach the Magistrates Commission was necessary because the conduct displayed during the proceedings raises broader concerns about judicial decorum, procedural fairness, and the proper administration of justice.
The prosecuting authority maintains that an investigation by the Magistrates Commission is essential to safeguard the integrity of the magistracy, ensure accountability, and prevent similar incidents in future court proceedings. National Director of Public Prosecutions Andy Mothibi said the process would help protect the image of the criminal justice system and clarify the record regarding the events that unfolded in court.

My final engagement in South Africa was yesterday in Johannesburg with my interaction with Nigerians in the diaspora. The discussions were frank, emotional, and deeply reflective of the realities confronting our people both at home and abroad.
The conversation was interrupted several times by passionate questions bordering on diplomacy, the treatment of Nigerians in foreign countries, the political situation back home, and the growing desire of many young Nigerians abroad to return home and contribute meaningfully to nation-building, if only the environment becomes conducive.
I also reminded our people that the respect any citizen receives abroad is often tied to how respected their nation is at home. A country that works, protects its institutions, upholds justice, and cares for its people naturally commands global respect. This is why leadership and governance must remain people-oriented, accountable, and rooted in competence and integrity.
While acknowledging the frustrations and pains many expressed, I emphasized the need for all of us to continue to conduct ourselves within the ambit of the law, irrespective of the provocation or difficulties we face. Nation-building demands discipline, civic responsibility, and the willingness to pursue change through constructive engagement.
The interaction further reinforced my belief that Nigerians across the world remain hopeful about the future of our nation despite the present challenges. Our task as leaders is to inspire that hope with sincerity, measurable action, and a commitment to building a secure, productive, and inclusive Nigeria.
A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO

POLICE OFFICER TASKED WITH INVESTIGATING THE MURDER OF ARMARD SWARTZ APPEARS IN COURT
A South African Police Service (SAPS) official, Captain Itumeleng Laurence Makgotloe (54), attached to the Forensic Science Laboratory, appeared before the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court on charges of accessory after the fact to murder and possession of ammunition. The charges relate to the murder of 30-year-old Armard Swartz.
It is alleged that on 17 April 2024, the deceased was seated in his vehicle outside his workplace at Q-Tech Engineering Company in Vereeniging when occupants of another vehicle parked opposite him allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding him before fleeing the scene. The matter was reported to the police on the same day, and two suspects were subsequently arrested after they were allegedly found in possession of a firearm and ammunition. During the investigation, the firearm and ammunition allegedly used in the murder were submitted to Makgotloe on 09 May 2024 for ballistic examination. It is alleged that after conducting the examination, Makgotloe submitted inaccurate reports to his superiors, which he later retrieved and failed to return. It is further alleged that he also removed the firearm and ammunition to prevent further examination and never returned them. In February 2026, Makgotloe testified before the Madlanga Commission regarding the murder of Swartz. Following further investigations into the matter, he was arrested at his residence on 24 May 2026.
The matter was postponed to 02 June 2026 for a Schedule 1 bail application.
