@feulf Open a location in NYC to be the first NYC cafe 24/7 for builders but mostly automated. Think of qr code, membership, robot barista, app, etc. so more space will go for people to work from it without time limits.

Feeling robbed of my path to citizenship right now after grinding a PhD and contributing to foundational AI + computing technologies for the United States for the past ~ 10 years.

This sucks. America should welcome greatness. Builders, innovators, and creators should have a fast path to citizenship. I can’t fathom why we would make life harder for founders starting billion dollar companies that want to anchor themselves in the US.

Unless we remove the corruption in power (dem, rep) and make lobbying in politics illegal (foreigners lobby and technocrats), and have them paying the right amount of taxes (Jeff, mark,…), and keep them accountable we’re going fast into a societal hot revolution, civil war, that will result in a lot of pain for us.. the techno oligarch bought bunkers for it

my wife after 2 weeks made an astute intuition of why China is so livable and inexpensive, but you can spend unlimited money if you want.
The base needs are accessible to everyone! Food is inexpensive and great quality, taxis are very cheap (30 min $5), hospital and medicine incredibly inexpensive ($2 for a full test), cars and scooters 1/3 the cost of US or Europe.
Meanwhile in the US the baseline is so high that eating healthy is a privilege, healthcare is a privilege, not even a middle class worker survives the medical bill without bankrupting or selling an organ.

I’ve always been a huge advocate for the “Singapore has very fair prices” notion
Funnily enough, people that comment about Singapore being expensive to live in are usually expats and foreigners that made their deduction from watching “Crazy Rich Asians”
Of course, if we were to take into consideration cars and housing, then yes, Singapore IS expensive
But I think a more accurate index to evaluate “living” would be what we need - which is food
Now, assuming an average meal cost of $10 (which is a heavy overestimate), the average monthly meal cost would be ~SGD$1000
Or a weekly cost of ~USD$200
That’s lesser than almost most tier-1 US cities
With way more safety

That’s why I’ve never got the whole ‘Singapore is expensive’ stereotype, especially when it comes from locals. Singapore is expensive for expats, given that they have to rent private housing, are subject to expensive international school fees for their children etc. But for locals? In relation to the average salaries, it’s far cheaper than our neighbours and other global cities.

This expensive lunch discourse is another interesting EU-USA split. Here in Italy larger supermarkets have a counter where you can buy a hot sandwich for about €3 euros. Italians eat out frequently and it's not a huge deal.
