Every modern idea is dedicated to the advancement of civilization for a select few yet none of them address the most glaring human problems which are poverty, armed conflict, famine, and human diseases. How sad and ironic.

Alfred Hitchcock's Reasoning Behind Marion Crane's White Bra/White Handbag and Black Bra/Black Handbag in Psycho (1960). In the opening scene of Psycho, Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) is wearing a white bra and slip before dressing in an all white outfit complete with a white handbag. Alfred Hitchcock made that wardrobe choice to establish Marion as being good and pure. After Marion has stolen the money from her boss, the following scene shows her packing her belongings while semi dressed in a black bra and slip. She dresses in a darker outfit and has changed from a white handbag to black. The change from an all white wardrobe to black is to demonstrate that Marion has gone from angelic to evil.

This is the largest monastic library on Earth. It’s hidden in an Austrian mountain valley and is believed to have inspired the design of the iconic library in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, but you’ve probably never even heard of it... Completed in 1776 within the Benedictine monastery Admont Abbey, the library was designed by architect Josef Hueber as the intellectual crown of the abbey. It is 70 metres long, lit by 48 windows, and lined with white-and-gold bookcases that hold 70,000 volumes. Across the entire abbey, the collection runs to roughly 200,000 books and 1,400 medieval manuscripts. Hueber designed the room to embody the philosophy of his era. "Like our understanding, spaces too should be filled with light," he said. The walls are white. The shelves are gilded. Sunlight pours through the windows and reflects off the gold leaf until the entire hall seems to glow from inside. The ceiling holds seven frescoes painted by Bartolomeo Altomonte in the summers of 1775 and 1776. He was almost eighty years old. Each fresco depicts a stage of human understanding, beginning with the sciences and rising, dome by dome, toward Divine Revelation in the central cupola. In 1865, a fire tore through the monastery. It destroyed the church, the dormitories, the workshops, almost everything. But the library survived untouched. Two and a half centuries after it was completed, it is still called the eighth wonder of the world... -- -- -- If you enjoyed this, I write a weekly newsletter read by over 50,000 people who love rediscovering the beauty of the past. Eliza Doolittle (Audrey Hepburn) amongst high society with zero filter! “Come on. Come on Dover. Come on. Come on Dover. Come on. Come on Dover ... move your bloomin' arse!!!”. Audrey Hepburn at her most iconic in George Cukor’s dazzling 1964 musical comedy My Fair Lady ... an 8x Oscar winner, including Best Picture. Costume designer Cecil Beaton created 1,500 costumes for this movie, with the exception of the pearl white gown Audrey Hepburn wears to the Embassy Ball, an original Edwardian specimen Beaton found in an antique shop. Audrey Hepburn later admitted she would never have accepted the role of Eliza Doolittle if she had known that producer Jack L. Warner intended to have nearly all of her singing dubbed. After making this movie, Hepburn resolved not to appear in another movie musical unless she could do the singing on her own.

Did you know we find birdsong relaxing because our brains associate it with safety since birds stop singing when predators are near? On top of this, their songs are particularly pleasant to your ear also because of the striking similarities between theirs and human music.

Why would the senators call NBI to secure them first, when the PNP is right outside the Senate building? According to our reporter, the PNP was not even allowed to go in when shots were heard.
