@DerbysPolice Since covid the amount of high performance cars and motorbikes using Snake Pass has increased a lot. How many people need to lose their lives before average speed cameras are installed?

@WhatTheNell @H_H_Gray @DerbysPolice they don't, but it's a very reasonable guess. Snake Pass has become a de-facto racetrack on any sunny Sunday. 100s of high performance motorbikes and cars, a substantial minority of which are reckless.

@fidgetfive @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine @MikeyCycling Because we all know what is and isn't dangerous. The second that guy pulls away on his phone, I'm all for calling him out and the like. But when they're not endangering anyone, there's no reason to try and unnecessarily ruin peoples' day and spread more shit in peoples' lives.

@fidgetfive @MikeyCycling @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine Okay, so you're not a Secret Police type, you're just a massive hypocrite. Seems like your buddy is more the Secret Police informant sort, though. Gotta get that clout by reporting anyone who violates any law, even when not hurting or endangering anyone.

@BeefTaquitos @MikeyCycling @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine No, I don't always follow the law. I always speed on motorways, I don't always stop for red lights when cycling, I spent longer than an hour outside during lockdowns. But if I'm caught doing that - which I have been - then I accept I knew the law and chose to risk breaking it.

@BeefTaquitos @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine @MikeyCycling I respectfully disagree; I think people breaking laws put in place to save lives make things suck. The most likely way any of us will kill another human is whilst driving our cars. Just leave the phone alone, nothing is that important it can't wait.

@BeefTaquitos @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine @MikeyCycling It is indeed the law. The clearly little danger, perhaps during the period he's in his phone something changes around him. Perhaps someone starts to cross in front of the car and the guy just sets off when he sees the bus in front move? Best to leave the phone alone really.

@fidgetfive @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine @MikeyCycling This isn't an entitled driver. This is a dude stopped at a light checking his phone. There's literally nothing wrong with that so long as you put it down when you start moving. If it's illegal to look at your phone while stopped at a red light over there, the law is wrong.

@TheZeusGoose @BetBoxing @MikeyCycling @theJeremyVine This driver now has at least six points in his licence. No one needs to have their phone within reach when at the wheel. Either he now changes that behaviour or he’ll be banned soon. Either way we will have one less person driving who lacks basic self control.

@fidgetfive @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine @MikeyCycling Two wrongs don't make a right fella, the point I'm making is he broke the rules by being on the pavement then onto the road endangered himself and others to take a video of a guy stationary in traffic, can you see the hypocrisy

@TheZeusGoose @BetBoxing @MikeyCycling @theJeremyVine I don’t use cameras when on my bike. But for those that do, and those who have dashcams - yep, I think they do make a difference. I’m grateful they spend time doing the job the police don’t have the manpower to do.

@Steviebeemcfc @bensmith81 @theJeremyVine @MikeyCycling They should both be punished if they broke the law - and part of every submission of video evidence is checking both parties behaviour. But oddly, if the cyclist did break the law, they don’t let the driver off…
