If there was one thing I was going do at the #MetMuseum, it was to take a decent shot of this cobalt blue glass flask in the shape of a mouse with snake thread decoration. Achievement unlocked! Proto-Disney. 🐭 😍 3rd c. CE 📸 me

Late Roman blue glass cup excavated from an ancient Silla Royal tomb at Cheonmachong, Gyeongju, Korea. Early AD 500s. A little luxury that travelled far #SilkRoads Collections Gyeongju National Museum. Currently on display British Museum 📷 my own

When I wrote the crow chapter of Stone Blind, I knew it would be my favourite part of the audiobook to record. I love the representations of crows we can find in ancient art (this is from the museum in Delphi). I only discover today that crows bear grudges, just as my one does…

A spectacularly colorful terracotta funerary urn from Centuripe in Sicily, depicting a bride and her attendants. The sealed vessel resembles a tholos-style tomb or temple, with lion-headed waterspouts, triglyphs and metopes. #polychromy 😍 Greek, 3rd-2nd c. BC #MetMuseum 📸 me

This beautiful ‘network’ mosaic glass bowl looks so modern, yet it’s about 2,250 years old! Made using an innovative Hellenistic technique in which thin threads of twisted glass were spiralled over a convex mould. A wonderful example of the skill of ancient glassmakers! Wait for it! The moment this bird turns to face the camera is excellent! What a sheer force of strength and determination! Ospreys are unbelievable birds.

The threshold of the entrance hall or ‘fauces’ meaning the ‘jaws’ of the house with a mosaic of a tethered guard dog. Aptly, an early morning shadow resembles a jaw with sharp teeth and mimicks the snarl of the dog. House of Paquius Proculus #Pompeii #MosaicMonday

@Climatologist49 Unlucky...but you guys get it all the time. I'd hate to miss a Seattle snowstorm while I'm on vacation...we get it so rarely.
