Thinking of resigning during a disciplinary? Don’t rush!
A dismissal can override your resignation and still affect references 📄
Being told “resign or be dismissed” is predetermined and breaches the ACAS Code ❌
Always appeal unfair decisions!

Why we whistleblew & never gave up
@JusteanWinter
1 Nurse (Plymouth)
1 Midwife (Wales)
Never worked together
Both raised patient concerns
Both witnessed harm
Both whistleblowers
Both referred to NMC
Both ignored, threatened
Both raised grievances
Both went down tribunal route
Both were let down
Still standing
Still exposing the corruption
We weren’t the problem.
We were the warning.

Employment law violations are more common than you think in the UK ⚖️
1. Unpaid wages
2. Zero-hour contract misuse
3. Unfair redundancy
4. AI & workplace monitoring concerns
Knowing your rights is the first step to protecting them.

The damage is done.
When you terminate an employee due to performance issues, office politics, or force them to resign by creating a toxic environment — remember this:
They will move on.
In a few months, they’ll find better opportunities, rebuild their confidence, and thrive elsewhere.
But they’ll never forget how you treated them —
How you shouted, humiliated, and misunderstood them, simply because your ego got in the way of basic empathy.
They might never speak about it.
But they’ll carry the scars — silently.
Power should never come at the cost of someone’s dignity.

The planned removal of the cap on compensatory awards for unfair dismissal is hugely significant.
Currently, the award for a successful unfair dismissal claim is capped at one year's salary or £118k (whichever is the lower).
Removing this cap makes it very worthwhile for claimants to pursue claims for higher compensatory awards.
This obviously has an impact on claims from high earners, but it goes beyond them.
For example, someone in their sixties on £50k per year arguing that the intended to work for at least 5 further years but unlikely to get work - without the cap, they could seek compensation for £250k (5 x £50k).
Imagine how Davidson v National Express Limited [2025] EAT 151 might have been reconsidered under an uncapped regime.
