Don't tell me. An office - worse, HR - chick walked back there once and got chilly. She then turned it into a sexism issue about how men try to freeze women out of the workplace. Which is even more ironic as men actually have to adhere to a dress code in corp America while women do not.

Facilities just sent me an email asking why the server room temperature is set to 62°F. They said it's "excessive" and they want to raise it to 68°F to save on cooling costs. I replied with a six-paragraph email explaining "thermal load balancing," "equipment MTBF degradation," and "catastrophic failure risk." I cited a "study" that showed every degree above 65°F reduces server lifespan by 15%. There is no study. I made that up. But I CC'd the CFO and said if Facilities wants to take ownership of a potential $200K hardware replacement due to overheating, they're welcome to adjust the temperature. Facilities backed off immediately. Here's the truth: the servers would be fine at 70°F. Data centers run hotter than that all the time. But I like the server room at 62°F. It's the only place in the building where I can go to cool off and get some peace and quiet. Plus, now I have an email chain proving that I "advocated for infrastructure longevity" while others wanted to "cut corners." Technical decisions are rarely about what's right. They're about who's willing to use more jargon.

An Edmonton man who died in a hospital waiting room reportedly begged for help, and each time he approached the desk, he was told to sit down and wait. He lay on the floor, asking repeatedly, and staff allegedly told him to move for the privacy of other patients. He was pacing, dry heaving, and tapping his chest—clearly in distress. A follower of YEGWAVE who reached out to us witnessed this and says they never want to see the inside of that ER again.

A 44-year-old Edmonton man has died, leaving behind his wife and three children, after reportedly waiting more than eight hours at the Grey Nuns Hospital while experiencing persistent chest pain. While waiting, he allegedly reported blurred vision and had a blood pressure reading of 210, and was reportedly given only Tylenol.

@RockyRanges @yegwave No such thing. Unless indicated "slower traffic keep right" you can occupy all lanes on a highway. Also the car was passing the semi until dippity goofball in the truck tried to be slick.

@pilpil66 @GlobalEdmonton We used to have a law that a tow operator couldn't offer services unless called, it was removed somewhat recently, maybe to make room for this.

@downspouters @libre20_ @1_2_question @yegwave I think the thought is for most things right is rights, 4 way stop if everyone gets there at the same time, person on the right goes first, traffic circles yield to everyone on your left. Unmarked T intersections are right is right as well, not straight through gets right of way.

@nnalrihS @1_2_question @yegwave Well, no, depends on signage. Unless there's signage saying the outside lane has to exit at certain points, legally you can go around all day long in the outside lane, as long as you yield to vehicles on the left.
