Putin doesn’t care about strongly worded memos or other pieces of paper like the NATO charter. He cares about consequences. As long as the West is eager to help him cover up Russian atrocities by dismissing them as accidents, why should he stop?

Needed, but as long as Trump is in Putin‘s pocket, and Graham is in Trump‘s, they aren’t going to happen. Every such "accident" is a Russian test, and so far Europe and NATO are failing those tests.

People shud have rly robust custody agreements ahead of time - ideally fully custody for mothers even if u want to allow a relationship - but just so u have smthn to fall back on if things get cray etc to be safe if ur doing this kinda thing. I think it can work out but there shud be a strong ability to avoid crazy court stuff if you have a huge financial disparity and don't know each other super well

@FilmBrief I wish ETH had the same magical thinking as BTC. It doesn't, though. That's why it will be priced as a commodity/bond for Ethereum Blockspace, not SoV, Money, or anything else.

ETH is not money. It’s special-purpose oil for Ethereum blockspace. That’s still valuable, but it means ETH-as-money only works if Ethereum establishes massive L1 dominance. There is zero network effect for ETH beyond Ethereum. The chad move would be for Ethereum to accept this and stop forcing ETH into the role of money. Make Ethereum the best settlement layer for better money instead: BTC, or a truly decentralized stable unit tied to real economic output rather than the USD.

It's ok to sell your coins without explaining anything to anyone. The market ultimately is the great equalizer and given enough time it rewards the people at the intersection of vision, conviction and patience. Being early but lacking any of the above is same as being wrong.

I don't really blame David, ETH has grossly underperformed the general crypto market for many years now. I think a lot of his views here are valid and as I've mentioned, I've personally divested a lot out of ETH the past 1-2 years now. To this point, everything I've switched into has greatly outperformed ETH. Honestly, I don't even think ETH underperforming is really related to any fundamental wrong doing. One thing I think a lot of people fail to realize is how violent the initial ETH run was. It's going to take a long time to shake off the breadth of millionaires that were created in such a short period of time. At the end of the day, maximalism to a single coin when it comes to portfolio management is pretty silly. The market doesn't lie, there's no reason to trade against it. You can always trade back into a coin if it gets hot.

@TrustlessState @RyanSAdams That’s based on what? All metrics are at ATH, except the price of ETH. On every continent people run EVM chains. And the EF just ensured they won’t make Ethereum a shitty US startup.. That’s basically game over for all the crap (corrupt) VC crapchains. Lost momentum? bs

@gladstein It was stupid then and it’s stupider now.. Go and check the genesis wallets and how many ICO participants hold their coins. ICO when done fairly, like the one done for Ethereum’s lunch, is a better way to bootstrap a network than having two guys ‘mine’ millions of coins.

A solid reflective piece from David, and he is right. Ethereum (the blockchain) is, and will be very successful. That does not translate to value capture for ETH (the asset). There is no mechanism for it to benefit from that success. John Pfeffer articulated this in 2017.
