Mortal Kombat II opens Thursday tracking $40-65M domestic, double the opening of the first film. Warner Bros. already commissioned Mortal Kombat 3 before the sequel even opens. The first red band trailer set a record with 106.8M views in 24 hours. Nobody called the villain "the embodiment of toxic masculinity." No press tour about representation. Just Karl Urban fighting people very hard. Masters of the Universe and Supergirl are both in the summer lineup. Both had their marketing dominated by culture war controversy from their own creative teams. Is there a lesson here?

I'm not against strong female characters I'm against 99.9% of all the "bad" characters needing to be played by men so as not to offend people. Bad characters include villains, dumbasses, criminals, weak people and "redshirts" who are there just to get killed off. #sexism

If you’re not watching Apple TV's "Imperfect Women," you should be. It’s one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time—which is surprising because it’s an overtly female-driven series. What makes it work is that these aren’t “empowered” characters in the usual, preachy sense. They’re just powerful in a real, messy, human way. The dialogue actually sounds like something people would say, and the performances by Kate Mara, Kerry Washington, and Elisabeth Moss make you really feel it. The difference here is simple: the script makes EVERYONE a villain. Bad things actually happen to the women, and the show doesn’t protect them from consequences. That alone gives it weight most shows don’t have. The show DOES suffer from "lame man" syndrome: The wealthy husband is weak and alcoholic. The other husband is a failure at work - and other things. But for once, the female leads don't spend 8 episodes bashing the men. I eagerly anticipated watching every week and I was never disappointed. Fun Easter egg: the women's names are Mary, Eleanor, Nancy = MEN. Do yourself a favor and check this one out.

One of the most disgustingly man-hating shows on TV right now is NBC’s “The Hunting Party.” About a bunch of escaped serial killers being recaptured by an “elite” female-led team. But here’s the thing: every episode is just a Trojan horse for depicting male pain, suffering, and violent death. And here's how you know: The female killers kill men — but so do the male killers. Somehow, no serial killer on this show has WOMEN as his main victim pool, even though we know most real-life serial killers do. This week’s killer is an ASIAN WOMAN who gets white men high, then kills them. First male victim: strangled with a belt. Second male victim: exsanguinated while ODing. But the third FEMALE victim - she conveniently doesn’t get around to killing her. A few weeks ago, the killer was a man who abducts other men, skins them alive, and makes shoes out of them… while he watches them slowly die. And it's been this way for 22 epsiodes, with one more left. Why am I still watching? To warn you guys about what the real danger is: It's your television.

@FemCondition Men seeking mental health assistance are not automatically flagged as violent criminals. Only if they specifically give signs they may hurt someone, but that applies to women too. That's a straight up lie.

Now, if a man calls for suicide aid, he's first screened for risk of committing intimate partner violence. His relationship status is irrelevant, it's a baseline question. Worse, he's flagged in the system, with information regarding risk, mental health, and other concerns freely shared among all services. YOU REALLY DONT HATE NETFLIX ENOUGH! Their upcoming comedy "Ladies First" is yet another “flip the script so men finally understand how bad women have it” movie. Sacha Baron Cohen plays a male chauvinist (read NORMAL GUY) who gets knocked out and wakes up in a parallel world where women hold all the top positions and treat men the way men "traditionally treated women." Rosamund Pike plays his former subordinate, now his powerful, no-nonsense boss who loves mocking and shaming him. Right off the bat, the trailer calls him “an asshole.” His black female LESBIAN secretary goes from fetching his coffee to being a high-powered executive above him (and we all know how THAT will play out, don't we?) Female construction workers ogle him. He has to have his legs waxed. He has to wear a "testicle bra." When his girlboss asks if he can change a tire, he replies "No, I'm a man." And she jokes about men having "delicate sacks that dangle from your body when the slightest tap sends you weeping to the ground." This trailer makes me have LESS SYMPATHY for women than I already did. Are they really so desperate for relevance that they would remake an entire industry on the basis of their own petty jealousies? Apparently so, because this is the umpteenth version of "women are the new men" that we've seen in recent years. Which begs the question: If masculinity is so toxic, why are women so eager to cosplay it?
