@TexasPreacher What would soft popery be in your estimation?
English

@logos_asarkos As a matter of fact, it is so good I’m stealing it for my new bio!

@logos_asarkos This has to be one the best summary statements about the purpose of man.

If "God does everything for his own glory," isn't the Cross most selfish act instead of his most selfless?

“Pardon of sin is an act of God's free grace whereby to a repenting, believing sinner for the sake of Christ and his righteousness that obligation to punishment which ariseth from the sinfulness of his heart and life is dissolved and ceaseth; or this: 'tis a gracious act of God discharging the sinner by the gospel promise or grant from the obligation to punishment upon consideration of the satisfaction made by Christ accepted by the sinner and pleaded with God.”

"[The apostles] proclaim the glory of God to us, which is the grace set in Christ Jesus for the remission of our sins. For all have sinned and are deprived of God's glory, and all are justified freely through Christ's blood. It is because it is free that it is called grace, for it would not be grace were it not given gratis. But gratis it is, because we had previously done nothing to entitle us to such benefits. Rather, because punishment would have been imposed deservedly, kindness was granted undeservedly. Our previous conduct entitled us to nothing but damnation. Yet Christ saved us through the water of rebirth, not on account of any righteousness of our own but because of his mercy. This, I tell you, is God's glory, this is what the heavens have proclaimed. Yes, I repeat, this is God's glory, not yours; for you have done no good at all, yet you have received so much good. If, then, you share in this glory which the heavens have proclaimed, say to the Lord your God, 'You are my God, for your mercy will forestall me' [Ps 58: 11 LXX]." - St. Augustine, Expos. 2 on Psalm 18 (n. 2)

“In the covenant of adoption there is included the free pardon of sins, upon which depends the imputation of righteousness, God bestows a recompense upon the works of his people, although, in point of justice, it is not due to them. What God promises in the law to those who perfectly obey it, true believers obtain by his gracious liberality and fatherly goodness, inasmuch as he accepts for perfect righteousness their holy desires and earnest endeavors to obey.”

@JonMcK1647 "No one should ever say 'I was baptised', only 'I am baptised'. Baptism is a living vocation. Waters that are stagnant stinketh; waters that flow are sweet."

@Jondaphemp @FrankLets78822 And this is why even Protestants believe all need to submit to the authority of the Church. No it is not noble and wise to just read your Bible and come to collusions that are considered formal heresy by any major Christian tradition.
English

@FrankLets78822 Thank you for sharing your greek pagan philosophical interpretation with us again. Its wrong.
But thank you for sharing. When you want to know what the Bible says. All you have to do is read What God has inspired without your presuppositions in place!

I no longer Believe God is Omniscient. I believe that if God desired to, He could be, but has chosen not make this universe in that way.
Far too much of scripture is God using Conditional language about the future.
Yes He works all things, but "works" tells us there is effort
Root@rootcausesleuth
If God knows the future exhaustively, and it’s set, Can he have real relationships? Or is he just role playing?

“Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
You hem me in, behind and before,
and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
it is high; I cannot attain it.” Psalm 139, 5-6
“Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,”
~ Isaiah 46, 9-10
“Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”
~ Isaiah 42, 9
“Let them declare what is to come, and what will happen. Fear not, nor be afraid; have I not told you from of old and declared it? And you are my witnesses! Is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any.”
~ Isaiah 44, 6-8
“In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will”
~ Ephesians 1, 11
