@agreatdayinnc Id suggest looking up co-ops and microschools in your area. And if you feel its needed start looking into tutors in your area. We are very fortunate to have a pretty decent chunk of these in our area and it gives the kids an opportunity to experience "school" while homeschooling

I keep on going back and forth on homeschooling or sending my kiddo off for kindergarten. I know K is the easiest and we could give it a trial run, but I also know she would LOVE school. Idk what to do

@ronrule In florida homeschoolers are eligible to receive funding from the state they can use towards supplies, curriculum, classes, tutors and sports. So while you still would pay property tax you receive something back to put towards education.

If you homeschool your kids, you should be exempt from the portion of your property taxes that goes to the local schools.

@cardamomkiss Potentially unpopular opinion but I wish everyone put away the nice/special/expensive toys during a play date. It is one less thing for everyone to worry about, one less stressor and then the kids have a little more freedom to just play with less policing.

I was looking at a wooden toys buy/sell page and someone was asking if people put their nice toys away during playdates with "mainstream" children lol

@dogwoodblooms I did a lot of projects on gun violence when I was in school. Then and now I always came to the conclusion that it's a really complex problem that doesn't have a simple answer or solution. Definitely seems like a symptom of other issues though.

@fixthycrown It used to be taught in school. What happened? I’d love to see the correlation between violence escalation and the day we started limiting rights and stopped educating. I’m willing to bet it’s all related.

I can’t remember the first time I saw a firearm. They’ve always been there. The men in my life were hunters. They took gun safety seriously. And from day one, they taught me both the dangers and the benefits of carrying a firearm. Daddy used to shoot down mistletoe to gift to family and friends in Dutch Cove around Christmas time. During hunting season, he didn’t leave the house without a rifle in a rack in his truck’s rear window. No one batted an eye. It wasn’t odd. When I went to high school in the 1990s, boys came to school during deer season with firearms displayed in their vehicles. Papaw kept a gun in the car when we traveled. He wasn’t afraid to pull it either. I witnessed it more than once. Mamaw? She had better aim than most men. And Mama? She took me shooting regularly before I was out of grade school. Every native born North Carolinian, I’ve ever known has had a gun - both left and right. This is our culture. It always has been. Even before the world went crazy. It’s time for the NCGA to recognize our god given rights of self defense. 💯

Stocking Mill Coffee@smcroasters

We joke around with NC a lot about not being a southern state because you need a permit to carry concealed. Lots of people from NC reply BUT you can open carry… …and not joking right now…That is a fucking terrible attitude. There should be no BUT about carrying anything the constitution allows you to carry or own and no restrictions on exercising those rights. Stop being ok with having some of your rights… …start demanding you get to exercise all of your rights and vote accordingly. -E

The Ai summaries on Google are often weird jumbled incorrect things, which is easiest to see by looking up stuff related to shows you like and know well. I just think we have at least 10 years of development before Ai could be a decent replacement for anything.

I think we have a long way to go with Ai before we are actually depending on it so much. My autocorrect still sucks and Google maps still takes me to the building of a place versus the nearest parking for it (in driving mode)

@theclassicwife I think it just sounds nicer than "outside" because it's really just inside/outside. Wombside/earthside

Hot take of the day: calling birthed babies "earth side" doesn't make any sense to me. Are they not on the earth in a woman's belly?

@oliveegger B4 I had my daughter I was a dog groomer who had 3 dogs myself. My whole life was dogs I volunteered on my days off to wash dogs at a shelter. For fun I would visit new to me pet stores. When I had my daughter it was like the flip of a switch Not biological per say but v common

I didn’t start hating my dogs once I had kids. I definitely became more cautious and less trusting of random peoples dogs, and very vigilant about my son around our own, but unless I’m biologically broken, idt it’s “just biology” to no longer like your pets

@luinalaska Just want to also let you know that golden retrievers have aggressive streaks often enough for it to be mentioned in the akc book about dog breeds. Being a good dog owner partially means adjusting your life around your dog to some level.

@emilykmay The way it is proposed sounds like you saying "I need your help with this problem" and spouse sounds like an efficient problem solver. If you said "I would really enjoy collaborating with you on this" or " I would love to connect by --" it would probably get better results.

if one spouse says to the other, "will you sit down with me and help me make a grocery list and meal plan for the week? maybe brainstorm some ways for the kids to try some new veggies?" and the response is, "why don't we just get a meal delivery service?" it feels like rejection.

Everyone at Disney in charge of doing live action remakes needs to be sent to the reeducation camps The surprise twist at the end of Lilo and Stitch is that the older sister leaves Lilo in foster care to go pursue her dreams of being a Marine Biologist.

@MattWalshBlog Damn this is blockable. Roast beef shouldn't be grey. Also out of the 6 times I have had Arby's (in different states and locations) I have only gotten the correct order twice.

People only think they hate Arby’s because every Arby’s looks depressing and dirty on the outside and they’re usually located in the dingiest parts of town across the street from like a check cashing place and a liquor store with bars on the windows. But the thing is that the roast beef is still really good.
Robby Starbuck@robbystarbuck

I’m disgusted by @MattWalshBlog. Not because of the fake outrage crap some are attacking him over but because he proudly LOVES Arby’s. Did he get his tastebuds burned in an accident or what? I get eating it if there’s no other option but… Loving it? Truly a sick puppy… Shame!

When I reflect on my years living in FL, I still get anxiety thinking about my many cockroach encounters. Were it not for the continuous application of insecticides, every home would become a cockroach jungle. Idk how 23M people put up with that
