Scream is BACK. The best part about Scream 7 is that it basically renders Scream 5 & 6 as useless parts of the canon without totally throwing them away. Scream 7 easily could have been a direct follow-up to Scream 4 with a few very minor tweaks. It’s so gratifying to see how well this movie is doing at the box office, and it proves that fans of this franchise wanted to see Sidney back as the star. Thank you, Kevin Williamson, for your brilliant work. Wes Craven would undoubtedly be very proud of this film. It was beautifully shot and extremely well-paced. The writing is sharp, funny, and poignant. Nobody alive understands this universe better than Kevin Williamson and it’s a privilege to have him at the helm. Neve Campbell is brilliant, as always. You truly feel the weight of Sidney’s past in her performance. The same goes for Courteney Cox and Gale. The opening scene is genius — easily one of the franchise’s best. If you were on the fence about going to see this movie, GO SEE IT. Scream is a film that’s meant to be experienced at the movie theater.
