@SavedAtHisDeath @ScottRoberts Even the jews knew what Jesus was claiming I and my Father are one. [31] Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. [33] The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

@flmann1611 @ScottRoberts No, the text says he didn’t consider equality with God something to be grasped. Jesus is always portrayed as subservient to his Father. Don’t you recall his saying, “The Father is greater than I?” If they were equal, he wouldn’t say that without lying.

@SavedAtHisDeath @ScottRoberts John 1:1-3,14 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among

@SavedAtHisDeath @ScottRoberts You have to remember the Word incarnate is also fully man so he was subject to the Father being in a body of flesh. Phlp 2 clearly says he was equal with God I'm not sure where you are getting that from

@flmann1611 @ScottRoberts Being in the "form" of God is not the same as being God. "Form" is another word for "image." Jesus reflected his Father perfectly. He was "made" by his Father in the likeness of men. He was "sent" by his Father.

@flmann1611 @ScottRoberts Why did you ignore John 17:3 where Jesus calls his Father "the only true God?" Your stance requires you to deny the death of Christ for our sins because, as you must be aware, God cannot die.

Oh, I see. Therefore, in your view, we have at least two Gods. Maybe 3? We have the Father, who is invisible according to Paul in Colossians 1:15. Then we have Jesus, who Paul does not describe anywhere as God, or the visible God, or God the Son. Paul does describe him, however, as "the image of the invisible God" which means he represents God or is an agent of God. Jesus, himself, describes himself as "sent" by his Father. He didn't "send" himself. And, in John 17:3, Jesus said this, "And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." That would indicate that Jesus did not think himself as "the only true God." That's how he described his Father.

@SavedAtHisDeath @ScottRoberts I just gave you 1 Tim 3:16 where Paul says explicitly he is God and in Philippians 2 and many others places. Youd have to have quite a hardened heart to not see Jesus not being God from the scriptures.

@Mustang1by81 @PastorHamilton8 The choosing is through his knowledge of sending himself the Word as the incarnate Godman Jesus to die for the sins of the world. It's about Christ and his operation not God choosing to damn most of his creation

And you have been misled For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he[b] predestined us for adoption to sonship[c] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. 7 In him we have redemptionthrough his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, 9 he[d] made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.

Calvinism is a false doctrine straight out of hell. To say God has ordained some people to hell and others to heaven is blasphemous. I have never met a Calvinist who believed them and their family were predestinated to hell. Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. 2 Peter 3: 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

@flmann1611 @ScottRoberts John 1:18 (KJV) - "No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him." Jesus was and is the "image" of the invisible God. No one has seen God, because God is an invisible spirit. Many have seen Jesus, His image.

@SavedAtHisDeath @ScottRoberts I'm not sure you how you could mess this up so badly given what the 1st chapter of John states that Jesus is the Word and the Word is God then in John 1:14 it says the word was made flesh. When Jesus says no man has seen God he's speaking as God incarnate as a man

@JuanFon03729761 @JLee2028 @BrassVon @metathomist @MyLighthouses You do realize that Jesus told John Mary was now his mother. He also said anyone that does his will (faith in hlm) is the same as his mother brother or sister. This exceptional qualities you ascribe to Mary when never vocalized by Jesus or any apostle

My boomer, liberal, atheist, MIL lives with us now. I actually love her very much. She’s been having anxiety about death lately and I so badly want to share the gospel with her, but she’s so anti-Christian that it just makes her mad. What’s my move here?
