my main issue w/ the flat “escapism bad” reading of deltarune is that not all messages about fiction have to be nihilistic. toby’s consistent messaging seems to be letting fiction and dreams inspire you, not just give them up. see his message from indie expo

@opossum_kingdom similarly i have trouble finding fault in susie sleeping in the dark world where she’s safe and surrounded by ppl who can protect her when there’s a very real prophecy fating her tragedy and also anyone in HT is a suspect for the knight

i have a theory that carol, working w/ kris, is deliberately blocking the player/soul from leaving hometown. npc's are able to cross collision boxes and border transitions we can't. knowing we have these limitations, why not use it to their advantage?

@floraplays Ralsei also knows this, which is why he had to guide us over the spikes in chapter 5’s floor button puzzle. Susie doesn’t know this, however—she just ignores restrictions because she can. Unless it’s physically immovable, she can and will get past it (unless kris says no)
