Akane Banashi #8 I was really surprised to see Karashi’s rakugo took almost the entire episode. It was less than 10 pages in the manga but they extended not only the performance but his motivations and characterization. Love to see the effort going into each performance

Love how Qifrey wiping Nolnoa's memory isn't just something that gets forgotten (hah) by the narrative...it actively impacts his relationship with Tartah and is one of the contributing reasons as to why Tartah is reluctant to go to Qifrey for help when Coco suggests it...

Akane Banashi is a generational manga and for me, it's probably already in the top-5 of best Shonen Jump titles from 2000 to now

@DispleasedCatto Doubt it, because no way Subaru would put something that would need you to directly exploit people when his goal is only to mislead someone, and also because Sojo somewhat succeeded in weaponising the Datenseki, so Kyonagi cells did actually work (unlike the nonsense by Subaru)

@demaldorors If Chiaki died or her prophetic abilities were unavailable, the Kamunabi would likely have been keen to establish a new order with the EBs as the base, which has more collective responsibility between 6 wielders, especially with sorcery becoming widely known across the country

Why were the EBs, especially the most offensive and destructive ones, not sealed away during the post war months period? I suppose they could have been, Akemura took magatsumi anyways and the rest grabbed theirs to try and stop him. I know we will get all of these answers, but

@akemuus He was also clearly in a deep depression after Kunishige died, even from the chapter he was introduced it felt like he was clinging to Kunishige's words and image to avoid thinking about the war itself and the lives he took. I just don't see him actually enjoying the war itself

@akemuus When Samura told him he was planning to kill the bearers for their crimes, Uruha's opposition was just on grounds of 'my squad sacrificed their life for me, I won't let it go to waste' and 'Hishaku will use my EB for evil,' not actually opposing the fact he deserved to die 1/2

@akemuus Uruha also has guilt over it but clearly not to the extent of Samura, although it's obvious he's burdened with his own issues from killing so many people at a young age, along with Kunishige's death. Is there anyone whose extent of guilt is really OOC from what we know of them?

@akemuus I mean the 2 guys who have the most pronounced guilt shown over the situation consist of Kunishige (literally created the WMD that enabled the genocide) and Samura (who blinded himself over killing one person, let alone being unable to save 200k innocent people), it makes sense
