Again, Presidential prerogative to release information, as stated before. But without specific numbers, units identified, ingress/egress routes, and force makeup, the dated information that people went into Iran doesn't give away sources or methods. It might have been classified before the operation, but has limited value afterwards.

Trump just gave up a lot of classified information in that briefing. To be clear, he’s the president so he can do whatever he wants in that regard, but it’s not very smart.

Air traffic controller gave permission for fire truck to cross active runway as Air Canada 646 was landing. Plane struck fire truck. Airport & air traffic control system stretched beyond capacity. Human error caused the accident. An available gate may have prevented tragedy.

Important note regarding the accident at LaGuardia Airport. United 2384 wanted to return to gate. Odor in back of plane. Pilot couldn’t raise anyone at United to help get him a gate. Air traffic controller tried to help. There were no gates. Pilot asked for fire truck. 1/2

@goinggodward No one who voted for Trump can be regarded as toeing any line of moral sanity whatsoever. What evangelicals say and do are two entirely different things. You can’t vote for sociopaths & reflexively defend pastors who sexually abuse their flock and claim moral high ground.

You can criticize evangelicals all you like, but they are, by and large, the most generous with their time and resources and the most serious about protecting the vulnerable. They are holding the line of moral sanity.

Absolutely sick to death of hearing about how the new @louistheroux documentary has made people think about attitudes to women. Lots of MPs jumping on the bandwagon. I mean, no disrespect to Louis - I’m grateful for the highlight - but for God’s sake… Women get killed by their partner every week. Tiny Man Tate has been a thing for years. Domestic violence shelters are overwhelmed. Women have been waving the red flags about incels and attitudes for years. We’ve been begging for change. We’ve been highlighting the serious threat of anti-women social media. Then a MAN makes a documentary and suddenly everyone’s interested? Do you not all think that this might be part of the problem?

I honestly cannot explain this. Before the strikes on Iran, Republican voters were overwhelmingly opposed to U.S. involvement in a conflict between Israel and Iran. A survey by YouGov and The Economist found that only 23% of Republicans supported U.S. military involvement, while 53% opposed it. However, attitudes shifted almost immediately after Trump ordered U.S. airstrikes on Iran. A survey conducted after Trump’s bombing campaign showed support climbing to 85% among Republicans. For me, this rapid reversal illustrates one thing — Trump has transformed the Republican Party into a cult, where people follow not principles, but a man.

Tonight, Congress will vote to lower the age to prosecute minors as adults from 16 down to 14 in DC. Let me get this straight: Congress wants to prosecute 14 yr. olds as adults, but they don’t want to prosecute adults who sexually abuse 14 year olds? Release the Epstein files.

The women’s and men’s USA hockey teams were on SNL last night. It was great. It shows people aren’t perfect and people make mistakes. It also shows grace and realness which, when appropriate, we deeply need. The skit was lead by Connor Storrie, star of the gay hockey TV series Heated Rivalry. It included multiple jokes about the show and digs at the men’s team. “It was gonna be just us, but we thought we'd invite the guys, too,” said women’s captain Hilary Knight. The two mens players, Quinn and Jack Hughes, laughed at themselves multiple times. The President of the United States should never have said what he said. It’s awful. I wish the men’s players wouldn’t have laughed. Period. But in the heat of the moment in that situation when it’s loud and rowdy and you just won gold and the President is on speaker, it’s not going to be a moment of peak discernment around a joke, as distasteful as it was. (Just moments before, the men were chanting “2 for 2” in reference to the women’s team.) Hilary Knight, captain of the women’s team, said this: “I think there's a genuine level of support there and respect. I think that's being overshadowed by a quick lapse. I think the guys were in a tough spot, so I think it's a shame this storyline and narrative has kind of blown up and overshadowing that connection and genuine interest in one another and cheering each other on.” I’ve covered this story and have taken heat from both the left and the right. People can choose what a story like this does for their fandom of athletes, writers, and so on. The men’s players should apologize (many have). Some of the men’s players probably are misogynist pigs and honestly, screw them. And yet I don’t think that’s true for all (or even most), and I don’t think we should forever judge people for laughing at a joke. The broader lesson: as a society we should hold people accountable while also being able to show grace. This doesn’t excuse bad behavior. This doesn’t say we shouldn’t punish bad behavior. But there is a spectrum of bad behavior—and if we are ever to move on from our polarized nightmare we can’t be purists (nobody is perfect) and we’ll need to embrace context and at least a modicum of grace. I want to end by bringing this back to what matters most. Both the Women’s and Men’s hockey teams had extraordinary performances at the Olympics. And beyond just hockey, what the Team USA women athletes did was incredible. They won 67% of our medals. They did it with ferocity and respect. They did it in the face of setbacks and hurdles. They are humble badasses—and that’s probably the biggest American story out of these Games.
