@rosicrane There is a wonderful app called Flyover Country available on both platforms. It works in airplane mode and relies upon GPS, you need to download the data first. But it more or less tells you what you're looking at. That & apps I can't do without Peak Finder & Peakvisor

@DrLimnology Do you know about the app called Flyover Country? Pre-download your flight route and whatever info you want to follow along in real time from your #windowseat using GPS, which stays on even in flight mode. Geology, geography, parks, landforms, etc.

This also why everyone NEEDS to download the app: "Flyover Country". It lets you download, for offline use, all of the geologic maps and Wikipedia articles about natural landforms within your flightpath! It is incredible! @flyovergeo

This is why I ALWAYS go for the window seats! I also try to figure out the exact flight path so I can be on the "mountain side" of the plane. Also, check out the app "Flyover Country." You can download the geologic maps and all Wikipedia articles of landforms in your flightpath!
