@pickleball_jim @RossChaifetz An entire league of successful teams isn't possible. Every team ends up being .500 w/ that mindset. In sports there are always 3 levels: 1. top title contenders (20%) 2. middle class (60%) 3. bottom feeders building for the future (20%) To think you'll get anything else is silly

Don’t you want 20 successful teams? Don’t you want 20 teams with passionate fans buying team jerseys? I know I do. As to home/away model, fix the schedule. The 2026 schedule is a joke. 20 teams create 5 divisions. Play every team in your division twice, every other team once. 22 matches. Or play every team once, 19 matches. Easy peasy. Takes 5 minutes to create on a computer.

Let’s be very clear regarding the FACTS of “non-parity” Three MLP Mid-Season Tournaments. Three different champions. Two MLP Playoff Championships. Two different champions. A number-one seed has NEVER won either event. In fact, both MLP Champions entered the playoffs as the No. 3 seed or lower. NO TEAM has won both in the same season. Every year, the top ~4 MLP teams drive >85% of the attendance, viewership, social engagement, merchandise sales and more. Having strong teams that want to invest to build the sport and league is a POSITIVE, not a drag. Let the teams who want to win and build value do so! The NBA didnt become a cultural juggernaut until the great rivalries emerged at the top - Lakers/Celtics, Bulls/Pistons. Rising tide floats all boats.
Tyler Loong@tylerloong

I agree with many of these points, however in regards to more “parity/balanced” teams, many people think that if the elites get split up, it will make it more balanced - I’m not sure it necessarily will. (It may, but don’t think its guaranteed) We’ve seen many of these top players on weak teams, and many of these players have simply mailed it in rather than try to lift the others up. But it is clear that something needs to be done.

@SportsBoyTony There isn't another destination for Lebron's last 1-2 yrs that will embrace, celebrate, and cherish it more than CLE. His best fit on the floor is here. His best chance to make a finals is here. Bottom line is LBJ has always wanted to be loved. GSW/MIA/PHI/MIN ain't gonna do that

@QueenPickle13 And the fact that Jorja was "targeted" is only because her partner is the undisputed greatest women's player (really just, PLAYER) in the game. Like if AB was partnering with her in MLP I'd still suggest that opponents ice out ALW. She's just that good.

Some of you are acting like ALWs partner isn’t THE Jorja FREAKING Johnson. They will be fine. They dropped a game to a good team who played better on Sunday.

@NickWilsonSays EX. you would not see MJ rim protect or chase down defenders the way LBJ has. But MJ was still an excellent defender. It's prob gonna be the best 🐐 convo in sports bc you can make a case for either one and be correct.

@NickWilsonSays My thing about this debate is that they're 2 different players. LBJ is physically more dominant & MJ was more of a killer/scorer. There are things LBJ can do that you wouldn't ask/expect MJ to do and vice versa. The right answer is that they're equally the greatest @ what they do

@KenCarman Fighting over which mediocre QB should start is the tradition. You could replace Shedeur’s name with Holcomb, Frye, Delhomme, Kiser, or any of the almost 50 who’ve been here since 99.

Why are we still fighting over Shedeur Sanders in July 14th? No one is changing anyone's minds. It's in the hands of the Sanders, Watson and Monken now. We're just trying to agitate each other at this point.

@MikeNellis Or he can go to DC, demand an audience with McConnell, and if they won't grant it then follow suit with what measures you have at your disposal as governor. Get the courts involved in you have to. All he's done so far is write letters asking "pretty please tell me you're alive."

Kentucky Republicans have tried to take away Governor Beshear’s ability to appoint Mitch McConnell’s replacement. Beshear says he’s considering ignoring the state legislature and appointing a Democrat to replace McConnell anyway. He believes the law is unconstitutional, that Kentucky’s constitution gives him the authority, and that he’s prepared to test the GOP on it. This is exactly how Democrats should be fighting.

There’s a lot of talk in MLP right now about a franchise tag on players and how everything will be handled next year with regard to team composition. I think one of the most beneficial changes MLP can make would be adding a salary cap, salary floor, and most importantly having the teams pay the players instead of the UPA. This 1. Incentivizes MLP specific performance by separating MLP and PPA pay 2. Allows the players to have a true free agency where they can have a choice in the team they play for and 3. Naturally keeps the teams more balanced. In my opinion, this would solve basically all of the issues the league faces but I’m not sure the feasibility with the current contracts of players. Let me know what you think!

You've probably heard the theory that em dashes mean someone has used AI. AP Stylebook Editor Anna Jo Bratton disagrees in a blog post that acknowledges it would be helpful to have a clear and obvious tell when AI is the author. She writes: Unfortunately, that tell is not the em dash, which has been around for many years. In fact, they are so ubiquitous in AP lingo, we just call them dashes. The US has no jurisdiction over the Hormuz. Any attempt by this man to charge tolls would be an act of piracy and would be grounds for other countries to take military against us. This man is a lunatic and needs to be removed.

Cody Allen is really good in the booth. (I love Rick Manning. I don’t want him to go anywhere. But when he retires? Cody Allen has my vote).

@pickleball_jim @NicoTheLefty Nico is talking about MLP unless I’m mistaken. But even in PPA, Jorja (and by extension JW in their mixed events as well,) hadn’t played the best in spring season.

Fahey played well at the Midseason Tournament. And she has played fairly well most of the MLP season. But PPA, not MLP, is the test of how good you are. Let’s wait and see how Fahey plays in PPAs in the fall before we are ranking her as a top 5 player. Show me in PPAs and I will listen.

@JGelvar Yes, but, the strat teams should be employing against the Shock is the same as what was employed against the Fives. Kate has stepped up huge the past two events. Still, a majority of balls should be hit to her over AB.
