@zephyr_z9 Netflix, Hollywood, Bollywood and Korean wave gonna be disrupted by mIcRoDrAmAs? lol Nezha isn’t even a soft power and cultural export success as it’s just Chinese watching Chinese content. Even a small production like K-pop Demon Hunter can whoop their ass and win Oscars rofl.

Cute toy, ugly truth. Independent testing found Xinjiang cotton in 16 out of 20 Labubu dolls examined, including products sold through major platforms like @amazon, @SHEIN_Official, and @AliExpress_EN. Under the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, any goods made in whole or in part with materials from Xinjiang are banned unless companies can prove otherwise. @POPMARTGlobal must provide full transparency, and @CBP must enforce the law. nytimes.com/2026/04/23/bus…

@zephyr_z9 "The implications for Korean Won will be very interesting" Korean won will be "pegged" or rather follow very closely with the JPY value for some "unknown" reasons. USG / Orange man hate cheap currency especially CNY / RMB lol.

Eleanor Olcott@EleanorOlcott

I used the AI function on Alibaba's mapp app GaoDe to make a restaurant reservation. This was on a Chinese phone. Surprised to find it's based on OpenAI rather than Qwen. Many Chinese companies still rely on leading US models, despite local models beating benchmarks.

@zephyr_z9 The PLA entire military budget is just a paltry $277b. Means Samsung, SK Hynix, a company alone can afford to self fund a military that’s as huge and powerful as the PLA without taxpayers money lol China is really meh.

@zephyr_z9 This is just Samsung’s management trying to create a leverage with the union. It won't happen, and the government won't allow it.

[Exclusive] Samsung Electronics to Be Split Up Amid Union Strike?… ‘Spin-off’ Raised with Government Samsung Electronics, facing mounting pressure from a looming union strike, has reportedly raised the idea of a spin-off — splitting the company in two — with the government. The plan would carve out the semiconductor business, which is enjoying an AI-driven super cycle, from the TV and home appliance businesses, which are struggling against Chinese competitors, into independent entities. Regardless of whether the plan actually materializes, even the possibility alone is expected to draw fierce backlash from the company’s 4–5 million shareholders. According to government and industry sources on the 29th, a senior Samsung Electronics official recently brought up the idea of a spin-off at a meeting between the government and major corporations. Speaking about the union’s strike action centered on the Device Solutions (DS) division, the official reportedly lamented: “There are massive disparities in profitability across Samsung Electronics’ divisions, and we can’t match semiconductor compensation in the home appliance segment — yet this is what the union is fighting over.” He then added, “But a spin-off is difficult given the damage it would do to shareholder value,” and asked the government to “take a more flexible view on this matter.” The remarks reflect management’s struggle to push back against the union’s demands for an astronomical performance bonus. While calls for a spin-off have long been raised both inside and outside Samsung, the union’s strike threats are now being interpreted as the trigger that has pushed the issue into the open. Samsung’s union is demanding 15% of this year’s operating profit (estimated at roughly 45 trillion won) as performance pay and has declared a general strike beginning on the 21st of next month. Against this backdrop, Samsung Electronics has been continuously reviewing both restructuring of the Device eXperience (DX) division — which is suffering deteriorating earnings and faces possible annual losses this year — and a spin-off of the DS division. The plan would separate the semiconductor business, which has been operated independently of the finished-goods business (smartphones, home appliances, etc.), into a standalone company. However, both inside and outside the company, the consensus is that practical constraints — shareholder backlash and legal hurdles — make this unlikely to actually happen. Still, with strike pressure from the union mounting and friction between the DS and DX divisions intensifying over the performance compensation system, a spin-off scenario is once again on the table. An industry source said, “Even if it can’t be carried out immediately, a spin-off is something that has to be considered, and management would naturally raise the related institutional limitations with the government.” In other words, with every business outside semiconductors struggling, the company has no choice but to respond by exploring a range of scenarios.

@RYANHINGSHING Is TCM superior or western methods? China places emphasis on cultural confidence and self development path. Adopting western methods could be against it’s own policies. TCM, Acupuncture are interesting and unique in it’s own way like eating Tiger’s xxxx, herbs to cure ailment.

Hillbert Von Neumann@mmmmmmmmdu

Today, while shooting flowers with the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5x telephoto camera, I noticed something truly fascinating. This 5x camera uses Samsung’s unique ALOP structure. At first, I only wanted to check its sharpness and telephoto image quality. But when I zoomed into the background bokeh, I found that it had created a Zeiss Biotar-like “swirly bokeh” with oval, date-pit-shaped highlights. The important part is that this was not Portrait Mode, not virtual aperture, and not post-processing. This was the natural optical effect produced by the lens itself in normal photo mode. The background highlights were stretched into oval, seed-like shapes, arranged in a subtle swirl around the center of the frame. It does not look like the flat, ordinary blur we usually see from phone telephoto cameras. It feels more like an “optical brushstroke” left behind by the complex light path inside the lens. And that is exactly where the charm of the ALOP structure lies. Through its special folded optical path, it achieves telephoto reach, a large aperture, and more complex light control inside an extremely thin body. At the same time, it unexpectedly gives the bokeh a character that ordinary phone telephoto cameras can hardly reproduce. To me, this may be the most unique beauty of the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5x ALOP telephoto camera: it does not just capture distant subjects clearly. It also gives the out-of-focus areas a soul. In an era where mobile photography is increasingly dominated by algorithms, this kind of beauty created naturally by real optics feels especially precious. Some images can only be created by Samsung’s ALOP 5x telephoto camera.
