@deepcandles Do you have an argument for why it wouldn’t be a meaningful security enhancement?

Any thoughtful takes on why Crosslink isn’t a meaningful $zec security enhancement? I typically hear the “let’s not introduce complexity” , “it’s a distraction right now, so let’s not risk change”, but I’m talking security. I continue to like crosslink, exclusively as a security enhancement. What is the argument against? I’m surprised more people aren’t enthusiastic about the idea of adding an extra layer of security assurance.

I support and appreciate Bitcoin. But I also see it for what it is, and isn’t. Ignorance is not bliss.

😭😭😭 Not deleted fast enough… I thought you might be that stupid… sigh… I even put “ZW .9” thinking jusstttt in case… But even if I didn’t, does that sliver look like 9%? Have you even seen a pie chart before? But again, even if I did none of that, you just exposed your ignorance to the launch. Despite all your yapping and posturing about its dynamics. Just focus on BTC, if you didn’t talk about $zec all the time it wouldn’t even be in your algorithm to stress about. Cortisol safe.

@notgrubles @gladstein @jeremiahrogers False. Also a blatant misrepresentation of the purpose for the slow start. But who am I to tell people what conspiracies to obsess over (ZW .9)

The "shitcoin" shibboleth has lost its meaning. It's just in-group language now. Zcash founders reward (not a pre-mine, btw) was multiple parties agreeing on an exchange of value, years ago, which led to an incredible technology. I held Bitcoin for well over a decade. Zcash and Bitcoin complement each other nicely. Obvious when you apply logic instead of tribal thinking.

@zooko @moo9000 @iAnonymous3000 That’s my understanding as well. For @brave search, your browser does the work when the bot detection system gets flagged. Which is also why you have to have both JS and WASM enabled. Nothing is mined, it’s just a proof.

CAPTCHAs as a machine blocker are history. "Paper 6 full PDF successfully downloaded (5.4MB) via undetected-chromedriver bypassing Cloudflare. Let me replace the abstract-page PDF with this full version and push." Probably the next best idea is to have proof-of-work CAPTCHAs a la Bitcoin predecessor a la Hashcash. Because bots are going to view the pages, at least make the bots do some useful work while on it.

@0xTurbo_ What does exchange support have to do with protocol resilience at the base layer. Worded as is, your post doesn’t make any sense.

$XMR is on 6 exchanges in the entire world $ZEC is on basically every exchange, that alone should make you think a little Monero gets delisted, attacked, called criminal money, blackballed everywhere and still works every single day Zcash gets CEX listings, regulatory comfort and tracing companies openly saying they support it one scares them because it actually works the other gets pushed because it doesnt FCMP++ is coming soon too, its currently being audited. Its probably the biggest privacy upgrade in crypto and somehow people are still buying the fake privacy trade instead of the one they tried to kill and couldnt

The irony of listing something like Orchid while restricting accounts due to IP distribution. She’s framing the “Awful and invasive” language as poor copy that shouldn’t have been the path to mitigating a flagged user security risk. I can’t imaging that language was just “poor”, it seems intended to data mine (for product? For audit requests?) You’d know better than me, any thoughts? Seems disingenuous rather than principled. Also, I wonder what triggered the flag. At what point did his travel become “suspicious activity”

First, Alex literally doesn’t understand market cap, and continues to look at a price chart (which I suspect he knows, so he has to be trolling…). Butc if he actually doesn’t understand why his statement makes no sense then it’s embarrassing. As for the “egregious premine,” he continues to misrepresent historic reward distribution. Anyone can independently research the past and present of mining rewards, and I recommend that anyone who actually listens to Alex to do so. Not sure if it’s ignorance, intellectual dishonesty, or stupidity. It’s not difficult to look at the history of zcash reward allocation. Rewards that have community approval (until they don’t), and that have always been allocated in the interest of network resilience, and the innovation and evolution of Zcash over the last 10+ years. (Also, go find me some unhappy zcash miners …. 🫥) All of this is obvious taking one look at the network and protocol resilience over time, the engineering talent that continues to become more and more decentralized and impressive, and when looking at the technology roadmap execution over time. Whether you believe in $zec or not the technology is real. Zcash isn’t just a “privacy coin” , Zcash has the very best privacy. And it will be a critical component of digital finance. Alex is either engagement farming, dishonest for some self interested reason (BTC holdings maybe?), ignorant (endless information available, and in every form), or an idiot (in which case he should reflect and stop speaking in absolutes re something he doesn’t understand) I suspect it’s the combination of 1 and 2. BTC isn’t perfect. Its lack of privacy is an Achilles heal. I’m not suggesting that BTC is going anywhere (I’m 97% sure) But Disingenuous Maximalism In 2026? His takes won’t age well.🥴 But time will tell 🛡️🦓 zips.z.cash/protocol/proto

1. Yes. Zcash users (you can explore adoption/utilization, which is growing by the day) 2. XMR has never been the “gold standard” , but FCMP++ is a meaningful enhancement. But time will tell. When it comes to the mass adoption of privacy technology, the best technology + UX will ultimately prevail. Disagreement aside, respect for valuing opsec and the human right to privacy. If you’re a serious and intellectually honest person, I’d recommend independently digging deeper into $zec , and keeping an eye on what $zec security engineering and network development is doing. At some point, exposure may be interesting to you. ⏳🛡️ zips.z.cash/protocol/proto… Had to repost (broken⛓️‍💥)

@trlhei @followjason @jussy_world here’s a better question: DOES anyone choose zcash over Monero? for actual use case, the answer is no across the board. Monero is and always has been the gold standard

The admin of Dream Market, once one of the largest darknet drug markets, managed to lay low and avoid capture for 7 years after the site was shut down by law enforcement. His mistake was using BTC from Dream Market's wallet to buy gold bars through merchants that used BitPay to process payments and having the gold shipped to his home address. 🤦‍♂️ justice.gov/usao-ndga/pr/g…

People been calling Drake soft for a decade now just like the mob did to Bobby. "Janice STFU" is Drake's food court moment. He’s done being polite to people who act like saints but are lowkey trying to destroy his legacy. Drake is a fucking mastermind.

takeaways from the zcash dev summit: tl;dr it felt like a real crypto event – like the ones you had in 2017, where everyone joined because of the ethos of this space, and you would sit down in the conference hallway with strangers and hack on the next big thing more in-detail thoughts: - strongest signal to noise zcash event: only for people working on the hardest unsolved problems including post-quantum crypto, scaling, adding programmability to zcash, private bridging, interoperability, proof-of-stake, etc... - every key team was present incl. zcash foundation, shielded labs, zodl, etc... - OG Zcashers and early core contributors devoted time to remind everyone of the principles on which zcash was built on – which can easily be lost if not careful, specially now that ZEC is going mainstream - there'd been a lot of progress on the protocol level, specially with tachyon and crosslink, you could even join crosslink's live decentralized testnet - the spiciest discussions among zcashers are on: PoW vs. PoS, should Zcash remain in a silo or be as interoperable as possible, should the transparent set be killed?, should sprout and sapling be killed?, should zcash be programmable like other private VMs? – but fundamentally, wether zcash is encrypted bitcoin or private unstoppable money - zcash there's so much room for zcash growth: zcash and zec are mostly adopted in north america and a bit in latin america (spanish speaking countries) thanks to zingolabs' efforts in the region – but e.g. it could grow substantially more in Europe and there's been so far very little done in Asia (e.g. China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, etc) - zcon is gonna be huge, it will be zcash's 10th birthday fyi conclusion: probably zodl

Imagine being so deep in a cult that you call a proof of work, no premine, privacy coin a shitcoin and then have absolutely no clue that Hal wanted it to exist back in 1993 when he wrote: “Cryptography can make possible a world in which people have control over information about themselves, not because government has granted them that control, but because only they possess the cryptographic keys to reveal that information.. ..The goal of electronic cash is to allow these same kinds of private transactions to take place electronically" From Protecting Privacy with Electronic Cash Zoko remembers because he's a real cypherpunk that grew up with Hal, Adam and the rest. The Bitcoin Maxi cargo cult doesn't. They bought an orange coin because Mike told them it will make them rich.
