@CJHandmer The actual way to get rid of them is to *create* artificial standing water and poison it with bacillus thuringiensis israelensis. Hang a rainwater bucket from every tree and toss one of these in there monthly and 90% of them will die

SoCal has the best climate on Earth and for the last 15 years invasive mosquitos have been spreading, making it very difficult to actually be outside, risking disease. Official guidance is "err, eliminate standing water". It's 2026. We have crispr, gene drive, and a local pest control budget that's high though to run a space program. Who do I have to fuck to get these mosquitoes extincted? They aren't native, they're displacing local species, they spread disease, they don't have rights. Kill them all!

@mil0theminer Beeper tried this and Apple eventually dropped the hammer. Wouldn’t recommend basing your entire company on an iMessage ToS violation

@justalexoki @nikitabier 3rd party apps can’t access the Secure Enclave, you can store privkeys in Keychain but users can still read them. There’s no way to send something to the Secure Enclave to be signed as an app (altho would be great if there was)

@P_M_Cu You almost perfectly match both the horsepower and cabin volume of a Lamborghini Gallardo 😀. Just get a second set of wheels with all-seasons and save the knobbies for snow

Got the Rivian! But the k03 AT tires seem really loud. I measured the DB at about 76 when going 65 mph. I got them balanced which helped a little but any Rivian owners have advice? I am thinking I might sell the k03s on Facebook and get some Michelin all seasons if I can't figure out another solution.

In a recent pod, @DougDeMuro said that people just got mad and honked when he broke down in his Countach. The sight of a mechanically broken down car is increasingly alien

x.com/douglassmackey… Or, modern cars are just incredibly reliable and durable. Drivers don’t replace perfectly functional vehicles. Car longevity has been increasing steadily for decades and the only obvious spike in average vehicle age was caused by Cash for Clunkers

Douglass Mackey@douglassmackey

The average age of a car on the road now is nearly 13, according to Kelley Blue Book. In other words, we're turning into Cuba. People would rather fix cheap and simple old cars than buy expensive, over-regulated crap that Democrats force car companies to build these days.

@Rosstradamus @johnarnold They’re the numbers from the article. They’re damning even if they’re off by an order of magnitude. When we send our IMO winners to work on Wall St we can lie to ourselves and say their market making provides liquidity and pricing info. These betting platforms only deal despair

When I’m in the UK or any country with betting shops, I’m taken aback by how much visible despair they cause. You’re just used to it because it’s all you know. I grew up in a place without desperate men throwing their lives away on every corner. Forgive me for being against that morbidity being propagated in every pocket.

@foooorsyth @johnarnold The maths is way too high, look at the U.K. We’ve had betting apps for years and excluding the 0.1% then people just use them as a bit of fun

it's really unfortunate the most time-effective way to travel from the west coast to the east coast is via red-eye.

I am currently dealing with both golfer’s and tennis elbow. Also a hockey player like you. Had to drop all gym exercises with prolonged or intense holds (any deadlift variant). For pull ups and rows I wear straps to take grip out of it as much as possible. On other exercises where elbow lateral forces come into play (bench, lateral raises, rear delt fly) I wear elbow sleeves of varying thicknesses (from SPD and Inzer). 2-3 times I day I do Theraband twists (both directions), wrist pronation and supination with a heavy hammer, and ulnar and radial deviation with a heavy mallet. Then I hit my forearm with the Hyperice followed by 30 min of electric heating pad. In my men’s league games I stopped taking big slap shots. At night I try to keep my elbow extended — I noticed that I had the most morning pain when I slept with it bent. I’m probably 80% recovered and can still skate and lift. Couldn’t drive with my injured arm a month ago. Not yet willing to accept the “just don’t use your dominant arm for a year” prescriptions.

@_robyn_smith Please don’t give them ideas. Cool naming is the only thing the US resorts have over European ones now. I want to take the Promised Land Express and hit “Why Not” on the way down. I refuse to take Lift #6 to the Mountain Dew™ Moguls

If private equity owned ski resorts really cared about profits they would let rich people and companies sponsor runs and lifts imagine having a ski run named after you for the low low price of $250,000

@BowTiedHomeBake Nothing satisfied my boyhood desire for simulated violence better than lacrosse. Hockey doesn’t have checking until Bantam (age 13-14) — might be worth letting him learn to skate then assess if you want to keep him in it when the danger increases

How does this work? 1) scan for Bluetooth MAC address 2) guess device off of that, load microphone profile 3) output specific adversarial ultrasound for the specific MEMS microphone Or am I getting this wrong?
