@FinanceGhost I agree with you and was coached by a sponsor in how to do just that. The requirements should be tightened to avoid this.

@frankiepsa The requirements are vague, but are being abused in the market in terms of when companies feel like they are reasonably sure of what the earnings range will be. In extreme examples, management teams should be asked to explain how they got from a guess to final numbers in a day.

I'm now making a point of highlighting companies that release trading statements just before results. Mustek is the latest - trading statement yesterday, results tomorrow. Not good enough disclosure.
