@ms_peaceweaver @KaySocLearn @provokedpedago1 10 mins would be more proportionate. They can explain themselves to whoever escorts them and it can be tracked to ensure it is a once in a while thing and not an excuse used all the time to leave. Schools often have a sensitive way to ask for these things that is not too indirect

@woollyvix @KaySocLearn @provokedpedago1 The time is arbitrary although 10 would be more proportionate. The point is it's a deterrent for time wasters. You'd be shocked how many kids go from desperate and close to wetting themselves to able to hold out til break. I've only ever had 1 kid say "ok fine, I need to go".

@pbmosligo @collumbo You are all deluded. There were no security guards there. Nobody there was a security guard. This nonsense that "security guards" were attacked is simply not true. And no court ruling is ever going to alter that reality, no matter how long all this pretending otherwise carries on

@DanSmithwi78443 @collumbo They deserve longer, they behaved like absolute animals during a premeditated and sustained violent attack. They beat a dog to death and made it’s owner eat it’s faeces. They shouldn’t never be let out again

@x26457474 @Babiy_Thy @TCapoeti @AP You sound hysterical. It was a protest of the abuse perpetrated by the church in Ireland. The pope is the figurehead of the church. It took years for him to acknowledge anything was wrong, and the church covered up it’s abuse of women and children for decades. That was her point

The Associated Press
In 1992, Sinéad O’Connor destroyed a photo of Pope John Paul II on U.S. national television. The pushback was swift, turning the late Irish singer-songwriter’s protest of sex abuse in the Catholic Church into a career-altering flashpoint. apnews.com/article/sinead…

@x26457474 @Babiy_Thy @TCapoeti @AP She was an Irish pop star. This has nothing to do with America?? She was protesting the abuse in the Irish church system which was absolutely becoming more mainstream in the 80s and 90s.

@franktumbledon @Babiy_Thy @TCapoeti @AP How come she didn't tell anyone wtf she was talking about u til the sandal in America was incredibly well documented. She outraged even idiot pop stars. Never said a word about abuse. Just show it to me. That's all you have to do.

@x26457474 @Babiy_Thy @TCapoeti @AP Yes it was. It was literally documented at the time why she did it. There were Irish tv programs about the abuse of the church in the 1990s and multiple public scandals with bishops and priests by 1992 - the hold the church had on Ireland started unravelling in the late 1980s

@Babiy_Thy @franktumbledon @TCapoeti @AP That wasn't public back then. No one knew then. And she didn't know. She did it to get really famous. I was like 13 back then, this was in my wheelhouse this was an incredibly big story. It had nothing to do w a church scandal. She retconned this explanation decades later.

@x26457474 @TCapoeti @AP What are you talking about mate? What she did got her cancelled effectively, she never reached the top of any charts and was threatened regularly and booed off stage. At the time, said she had ripped up the photo in protest at sexual abuse of children by the Catholic Church

@franktumbledon @TCapoeti @AP Go find the article. It was about Sinead funding a way to become as famous as A Michael jackson. This was one of the biggest stories of the year. If she had accused the church of pedophilia the world would have stopped. It's a complete lie, rewriting history before our eyes.

@x26457474 @TCapoeti @AP It wasn’t about Americans. It was about the rampant abuse of the church in Ireland and the fact that the pope had yet to acknowledge it. Of course it was known at the time - just not published as widely as it would be later

@TCapoeti @AP It's a lie. She didn't tear up the photo to protest American priests screwing little boys. It wasn't even known at the time. They're rewriting history here.

@Amoos_said @FreeStateKaren @AP Cool make sure you have your guardians or husbands permission to work or leave the country. Domestic violence is legal in the UAE right? Mandatory breast feeding? Custody of your kids until they’re teens? Sure there is some equality for women but not enough for me
