Very British Problems when having a haircut 1 Insisting the temperature is "fine" as what must be water from a kettle is poured over your head. 2 Never feeling more tense than when fighting against the pleasant feeling of the head massage. 3 Showing a photo of you when you were 10 years younger and three stone lighter and asking, "Can you make me look like this, please?" 4 Accepting a complimentary drink as if you've just been offered £500 in cash. 5 Being gripped by the sadness of having to assess your own face for ages in the hairdresser's mirror. 6 Rearranging your hands and accidentally looking like you're doing something devious under the cape. 7 Being thrilled at seeing the back of your head for the first time since your last haircut. 8 Feeling consumed by guilt as you're encouraged to stand up and cover the clean floor with bits of hair. 9 Being mystified as to how "what have you done?" somehow leaves your mouth as "excellent, thank you very much!" 10 Waiting until you're at least 50 strides away from the building until you completely restyle your head in a coffee-shop window. My pond yielded another dragonfly emergence yesterday, a lovely Common Darter. Spotted the exuvia it emerged from beneath it.

Hosta love #GardenersWorld. What works best for me and not for 🐌 is growing them in pots (great for this shady patio space), ensure leaves don’t touch walls or the ground, raise pots on pot feet and cover the (#peatfree) compost surface with horticultural gravel 💚

@MBDscience Until we did live lessons, we uploaded weekly timetables,full planning, recorded lessons and work to be completed to our online portal. Children then uploaded completed work/photos and we commented on/marked every piece. On top of keyworker groups in school on a 2 week rota😳

@popemaths Someone else in the comments may have said this already, but it’s sadly a similar picture in Primary. EYFS struggling to socialise without bashing each other and a general lack of focus or respect, which we are really trying to work on 😔

Can someone reassure me that constant low level disruption is happening at every secondary school? It’s really starting to bog me down and my behaviour management has previously been effective so it’s extremely demoralising.

Gorgeous day today. The pond has iced over this morning but frogs are clever and spawned in the bit that gets morning sun, so it melted in no time. Little commas emerging 😍🐸

@agreymouse @Teacherglitter 👍🏻that is the exact response I gave - and that as it’s an annual event we do a rolling programme of activities so that the children get different experiences in each year group…

@freckles2512 @Teacherglitter Yes, you can. Tell the parents "We're focusing on books not costumes." Parents should not dictate what goes on in classrooms. As a parent, I feel there's way too much 'sharing' from schools (eg superfluous newsletters no doubt creating a burden on teachers to constant update).

As I am a mummy, my Facebook is parents and not teachers. It gives me an insight to what parents feel. And LOTS are stressed about costumes on Thursday. Money, time, knowledge. Teachers want book joy. Please don’t make this into something to stress you xx
