Canada vs. America: Two Economies. Two Directions. 🇨🇦🇺🇸 This week perfectly captured the difference. Canada announced a $2B Critical Minerals Accelerator. Meta reportedly committed US$60B to an AI data centre in Alberta. America’s strategy is to attract private investment by reducing barriers. Canada’s strategy too often is to create another government program. The problem isn’t a lack of capital. It’s slow approvals, regulatory uncertainty and projects that take years to build. Canada has the resources, talent and geography to lead. The question is whether our policies will let us. The countries that win the next decade won’t be the ones announcing the biggest funds..they’ll be the ones where builders can build the fastest. #Canada

Diversity (or DEI): Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Turns hiring into a rainbow spreadsheet. When metrics slip, they just lower standards and call it “progress”. The engineering team mysteriously gets slower every quarter. Equity: Equity and Belonging Strategist Ensures no one feels uncomfortable… except the people actually doing the work who now have to attend mandatory struggle sessions. Merit is so 2015. Investors pretend to care, stock price pretends to react. Wellness: Employee Wellness Coordinator Schedules yoga classes during crunch time and sends passive-aggressive emails about using your 17 mental health days. Burnout solved by adding another meeting. Engagement: Employee Engagement Specialist Runs surveys asking “On a scale of 1-10, how connected do you feel to our mission statement?” Then creates action plans no one reads while real problems fester. Outreach: Community Outreach Manager Shows up at local events with branded tote bags and selfies, calls it “stakeholder synergy”. Zero revenue, maximum LinkedIn likes. Officer (when attached to anything non-revenue): Chief Impact Officer or Chief Harmony Officer Highest paid person with “Chief” in title who produces nothing measurable. Their entire job is existing at conferences and vaguely gesturing at “positive change”. The annual report’s participation trophy. Bonus pattern recognition: Titles heavy in "Coordinator," "Strategist," "Facilitator," "Ambassador," "Catalyst," or "Transformation" in non-technical contexts are also strong red flags. If the role’s success is measured in “awareness,” “conversations started,” or “frameworks developed,” you’ve probably found a professional meeting attendee. Real companies make money by building, selling, or operating things. Everything else is overhead. Some of it necessary, most of it optional theater. After this and other multi-billion dollar announcements this past week, perhaps a few folks should cool the now debunked claim that a referendum on our province’s future is scaring away investment. It’s not. In fact, the opposite is true. We are leading the rest of the country in attracting investment by a country mile. And it’s speeding up. So let’s stop the dramatics, debate the actual issues on the ballot and make a decision based on facts - not fear.

It all seems like a lot when the price of dining out has gone up so much lately. I’m 95% cook at home. Recently got a Santa Maria Grill and a new Weber Genesis to make better meals at home which is more fun than going out.

It's not a "tanker ban." It's an NDP economic blockade. Foreign ships still sail freely along B.C.'s northern coast. The only thing being blocked is our prosperity, while doing absolutely nothing to protect the environment.

@freedomprocess @FoodProfessor Many of these guys quickly limit anyone who says or states facts that are contrary to their narrative. They like to block quickly to be in control of dialogue on their feed. Not a big deal, just find it interesting that guys who are pro opinion are often quick to limit.
