@aidnmclaughlin I'm not sure even he believes what he's saying. "They did it, shit happens in war, but actually the other side is even worse." He's just cycling through every defense.

Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale apparently still believes the Minab elementary school was hit by a "failed Iranian missile," a belief that is not supported by *any accounts*

@eugyppius1 At most they probably mean mine-clearing once hostilities end.

Not that I want to keep this fight going but the six nations who are a party to the statement have merely "express[ed] ... readiness to contribute to appropriate efforts to ensure safe passage through the Strait." This a rhetorical deescelation at most I would say.

@JoePostingg I'm guessing it would've saved them from their dependence on Egyptian agriculture?

@jeffbulman Russia makes the same drones domestically now. And yes, why would oil be less important to them than some peripheral Middle Eastern ally?

@Rory_Johnston @SamRo Yeah, I’m sure Vlad is giddy over the fact that America leveled his biggest military ally, who supplied drones to fight Ukraine. But you know, oil… 🤦🏼‍♂️

@Xenoimpulse Banning the largest export after spending the first year screeching about trade deficits would be so funny.

@Msamalam Everyone says this, but people on death row have their lawyers constantly delaying the execution, filing endless appeals. Their revealed preference is that they would prefer to live.

@atlanticesque Maybe I’m too nihilistic, but if I had to choose between rotting in solitary till the end of days and suffering a few minutes (at most), I’d definitely pick the former. There are valid concerns with the death penalty but IMO cruelty is not a valid one.

@CoKeynesian A big grievance against the Shah was that he hired enormous amounts of foreign contractors and managers to build and run industry in Iran.

A recurring issue with industrial policy is that corporate management in some countires just isn't as competent or energetic as others. It's a big reason why industrial policy succeeded in France but failed in Britain.

This - from The Economist - is the first time this specific topic has been brought up in any major media in relation to Dangote. A complete lack of technological learning, upgrading or mastery after 20yrs of govt protection. Every other criticism I make of Dangote you can hang it on this one. It is utterly utterly shameful.

Kash Patel could have responded to the Left's anti-Tesla, anti-ICE, and anti-Charlie Kirk domestic terror campaigns by infiltrating, disrupting, and dismantling the Left's violent NGO-activist-digital networks. Looks like he was busy designing sneakers for a child.
William Turton@WilliamTurton

A source sent me this photo of Kash Patel’s customized Nike’s. The shoes feature a number 9 (Patel is the 9th FBI director), a Punisher skull (a vigilante killer from Marvel Comics), and his personal logo (K$H). The backs of the shoes show the FBI motto: "Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity". Patel was photographed wearing them at an FBI Academy event that featured UFC fighters.

God forbid you want to find an older article, their news sorting stops at 1 year+. Cool I wanted to find something from ~2018 but it was a hot topic in 2023 so that’s all you’ll get and there’s no way to filter it out.
