Having been so used to using a Mac or Linux, it’s wild how messed up my winder family members’ Windows 10 systems are. Malware everywhere to the point of unable to use the internet, McAffee screaming in their face and doing nothing depute paying for it. Absolute horror…

@SeahawksJoJo Can you explain why an innocent man would enthusiastically lie and participate in the cover-up of the murder if he supposedly had nothing to do with it?

This is why the death penalty is wrong. It's not that some defendants don't "deserve" it, whatever that means, but that the system is too untrustworthy, too subject to error, to take the life of a human being.
Kelsey Reichmann@KelseyReichmann

WOW an Oklahoma judge grants Richard Glossip's bond request He has been incarcerated for 29 years, faced 9 execution dates and ate 3 last meals. Last year, SCOTUS said he deserved a new hearing after prosecutorial misconduct was uncovered. courthousenews.com/supreme-court-…

@zhil_arf Subsidizing agricultural production is the most bog-standard policy anywhere. Calling it a Chinese innovation is lol.

Another fantastic concept coming out of China is supply side socialism. When the worker is unable to afford food with his wages, should the government increase minimum wage? No. The government must instead increase the amount of food in the market until the worker becomes fat. To do this, the government will need the power of taxation, and the rich must be taxed to fund the program. Mountains are blown up to make way for dams to irrigate the production of food. This is a vastly more positive vision that the zero sum rent-seeking of labor unionism that only increases the number of costs and bottlenecks in industrial production instead of reducing it.

Just In: Great news for #RichardGlossip who was just granted bond after 29 years in prison — including nearly being executed three times — for a crime he did not commit.

ATTY STMT: Judge grants #RichardGlossip bond:“For the first time in 29 years of being incarcerated for a crime he did not commit…Mr. Glossip now has the chance to taste freedom while his defense team continues to pursue justice on his behalf…” More here: tinyurl.com/3hv8zbb6

@SaraElisabeth02 He was convicted because everything he did following the murder can only be explained by being a knowing accomplice.

@dmaninseattle @ScottGreenfield From what I know about the case Richard Glossip was convicted entirely based on the word of the actual murdered who cut a plea deal. He never should have been convicted let alone in prison for 29 years and facing death.

@dysanthropian1 Do you think the list of "rights" is extremely obvious and objective and there's no reason to contest them?

@sgodofsk Society is no longer democratic when society has too many rights? Typical conservative bullshit. We need to protect society from having the right to privacy and bodily autonomy for … reasons. Can’t let people buttfuck or society falls apart! Can’t let people marry other races!

What I find so obnoxious about all of the whinging from democrats about the courts is that for DECADES they advanced their agenda through patently absurd decisions with no basis in legal text and republicans never once ran on blowing up constitutional governance over it.

@LinkofSunshine Rwanda has the smaller population but its mineral exports alone dwarf Malawi's entire export portfolio, which is dominated by tobacco, a globally declining industry. The dirty secret is that tiny Rwanda exports the plunder from its Congolese conquests.

Why is Malawi poorer than Rwanda despite the calmer history: state capacity? The constant ethnic conflict in Rwanda led to a urgent need for a functional gov. (largely for evil) But that can also be used for productive projects, and Malawi's peace meant this was never necessary

@mattyglesias Ironically, the only right-wing businessman to criticize Trump has been… Elon Musk.

Not just a hypocrisy point — hypocrisy points are lame — I think that the actual behavior of center-right elites toward Donald Trump illustrates that resistance lib warnings of an autocratic personality cult are in fact pretty accurate.
Matthew Yglesias@mattyglesias

I feel like if a Democratic president was trying to ban new built-to-rent housing projects we would be hearing a lot from right of center businessmen about how that's a dumb idea.

@rohitshinde121 >He (correctly) predicted that the flexible exchange rate world (that we're living in now) is much more stable. This is not even slightly obvious at all. The immediate result was the chaos of the 1970s.

Woah! This is blasphemy. Milton Friedman is correct about the following: 1. He proved that the Great Depression was due to Fed contracting money supply. Ben Bernanke conceded this on Friedman's 90th birthday! 2. He was the first (and correct) to critique the Phillips curve relationship between inflation and unemployment. Past governments had tried to exploit the relationship. But he demonstrated that doing so simply shifts expectations. 3. He was instrumental in arguing against the Bretton-Woods regime. He (correctly) predicted that the flexible exchange rate world (that we're living in now) is much more stable. 4. The EITC is simply an implementation of the negative income tax he proposed as a replacement to bureaucratic welfare. 5. He was also correct about corporate tax being a regressive tax. Decades later, virtually no economists disagree. I could go on and on and on. Milton Friedman was one of the greatest geniuses. Saying he wasn't right says more about your understanding of economics than his.
Andrés Bernal 🇨🇴🇺🇸@andresintheory

@rohitshinde121 Economics is not a natural science and Milton Friedman hasn’t been correct about anything meaningful to policy or the actual world
