Téa - the Empirical Armadillo
The challenge with this issue, and changing minds, is that the advocates who pushed and supported it have to reconcille with the fact that they have hurt kids. A majority of them will double down instead, because they won't be able to live with themselves otherwise. I don't say this to excuse them, but to recognize that it is going to be a long, uphill battle. Parents of kids who have transitioned are going to be one of the hardest groups to deprogram because of this subconscious self-preservation mechanism.

“I'm a 23 year-old gay man who's never had an orgasm.” Sen. Wiener, a leading advocate for sex rejection procedures, comes face to face w/the human cost. I’ve never seen him squirm like this. It took immense courage for @JonniSkinner to be public about this issue. 🙏 ❤️‍🩹

The "Transchild": The False Self triumphant. D.W. Winnicott never wrote about gender. He wrote about distressed children and what happens when the adults around them offer premature certainty instead of safe space. His concept of the False Self has been almost entirely missing from the debate on gender identity in youth, and that absence has come at a steep cost. Winnicott observed that when love feels conditional, children learn to construct an identity that secures approval. This construction is not cynical or performed; it is experienced as utterly real because it was forged under conditions that made compliance feel necessary for survival. The False Self does not feel false, it feels real and authentic. That is exactly why it is so clinically treacherous once entrenched. The gender affirmative model created precisely the conditions Winnicott warned against. It told distressed children that a specific identity - transgender - was their authentic core. It offered belonging and affirmation contingent on full commitment to that identity. It framed clinical caution as harm and parental concern as bigotry. These are the classic ingredients for False Self development. The model then took the resulting fervent presentation as proof that the identity was innate and required immediate medical reinforcement. Winnicott was clear about the outcome: the underlying distress does not dissolve. When that reinforcement becomes irreversible - puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, surgery - the path back becomes far more difficult, sometimes impossible. The evidence now aligns with this developmental understanding. Finland’s national register study of 2,083 gender-referred young people (1996–2019) found severe psychiatric morbidity rising from 45.7% before referral to 61.7% two or more years after. The gap with matched controls did not close, it widened. The same research group has shown that medical gender reassignment itself has no measurable impact on suicide risk once psychiatric history is accounted for. The “affirmation is lifesaving” claim is not supported by the data from the countries with the longest experience. The triumph of the False Self leads only to deep, unforgiving, distress and unhappiness. None of this dismisses the reality of gender related distress in children. Winnicott took children’s suffering with profound seriousness. What he refused to do was mistake the form the distress took for its root cause. The proper clinical task is not to affirm the constructed identity but to create the conditions in which the True Self can cautiously emerge. That demands time, patience, and the tolerance of uncertainty. Factors that the transgender movement have been keen to snuff out.

Let me tell you the most important, foundational statement anyone ever told me. This is the key, I believe, to mental and emotional freedom. It's the key to getting out from under the oppression of lies. It comes at the end, but stay with me please. I once asked my therapist (old, conservative, old-school, based, hard-ass) what quality a person had to have to make significant progress past the destructive traits left by childhood trauma. I assume you all know I mean the real kind, like what I went through. Why, I asked him, was I able to make real progress to get past some of my worst character traits and to genuinely start to (forgive me) "heal" when my mother couldn't? Why do some people wake up to who they are, and what the world really is, and some don't? I don't mean to imply that I've fixed everything in myself; I absolutely haven't. That's obvious to anyone who knows me or reads my tweets:) But I do mean making signficant progress that's meaningful. He said that the quality a person must have to be able to do this is the ability to tolerate hearing, and to accept, that everything they thought they knew was wrong. About human nature, about love, about power, politics, right and wrong. It rocked me back in the moment because I could feel in my bones that it was true. This applies to all humans, not just people who've been through abusive families powered by narcissism. It works for anyone who is looking at the world and realizing that the explanations they've believed all along don't work. Don't make sense. If I could suggest one practice for anyone with this kind of thing on their mind, I'd say do your best to force yourself to be open to the possibility that you've been profoundly wrong. Maybe even terrifyingly wrong (that's how I felt). Let it be a possibility that you were badly misled, and that something you believe that feels like a sacred truth might, in actual fact, have been a lie all along. It's hard. But having been through it, I can confirm that you will survive, and it's better on the other side. -Josh

The “authentic self” of any middle aged trans identified man is never a 60 yr old granny called Hilda dealing with mild angina, a pelvic floor disorder, and healthy obsession about her latest crafts project. No, it’s always a version of Barbie Bukkake-Sexcumtart.

A man who claims to be a woman attempted to explain what women think about men who claim to be women. He completely failed. *ahem* • “They reject the distinction between gender identity and sex and that these two things can be in conflict” No. We know that gender identity & sex are very different. In fact that is basically our entire argument. Gender identity = a manmade concept. Sex = Naturally observable over the entire natural world, including humans. Binary & immutable. • “They are concerned with the safety & integrity of spaces that are typically reserved for women” No. Not “typically”. *Are*. ARE reserved for women. “Typically” is an admission that you know the group trying to gain access to the women’s spaces aren’t women. Which is our entire point to begin with, sir. They’re men. • “Trans people are concerned with safety & privacy in private spaces.” Great. Then leave women’s spaces alone, respecting the women who want them, and focus on creating your own spaces catering to your “man claiming to be woman” needs, whatever they may be. We won’t stop you. • “Trans people are seeking to go about their business & mind their business” Cool story, but the problem is the process of that appears to be changing the definition of “woman” in law & gaining access to women’s spaces, services & sport. So we fight back because we are not willing to give up our rights & needs so men in dresses can “go about their business”. • “We have had inclusive policies… and there was not a spate of people pretending to be trans, going into spaces & abusing anyone.” Either a) you’re ignoring all of the cases of men invading women’s spaces & sexually assaulting women - we can name 10 examples just in prisons off the top of our head - because it doesn’t suit your argument; b) you’re completely aware & just lying; c) you argument is they weren’t “trans” which means they must have been making it up; d) even if there were no cases, it still doesn’t make men women! • “Discomfort alone is not grounds to exclude people.” No, it isn’t. Sex is. Men are excluded from women’s spaces on the basis of sex. We exclude all men, including men with a gender identity and men we are comfortable with. It’s frankly unforgivable to speak this untruthfully about this issue in 2026, and it’s utterly shameful that two men just nodded along to blatantly obvious untruths. This is the intellectual equivalent of junk food.

I had, inarguably, my favorite “passing” experience ever today. I was at the bathhouse, and a guy got down on his knees for me without realizing I’m trans. I got to watch his eyes LIGHT UP WITH EXCITEMENT when I opened my towel and made the reveal. This was him: 🙂🙂🙂🤩🤩🤩

@nuLaGaavai You can change whatever you like to about yourself but if you’re a biological man it doesn’t make you a woman, and you are not entitled to protected spaces specifically for women. Ethel will never be an actual woman.

@fringetranny lol what is a biological woman? if you mean female, nobody here is claiming that transgender people are changing their sex… they’re changing their gender, a made up thing, which we made rules for, which include the fact that you can change your gender. ask any practicing doctor.

@nuLaGaavai He’s a “trans woman” in the sense that he’s a man that identifies as a female/woman. He’s not one. No matter how he identifies, dresses, or modifies his body, the only thing that would make him a woman would be being an adult human female, which he is not, nor ever can be.

@Qveen_Potato The fact that XY c!s women have the ability to give birth is further proof that both sex and gender are not binary. Many TERFs know that and they dismiss it because they are so obssesed with that piece of paper from birth. That is their whole argument but they claim its biology.

I'm not transgender, I just believe that trans people deserve to be treated like everyone else. It doesn't matter if guys like wearing make up or putting on dresses or using their preferred bathroom. Why can't people just be respectful?.

"Trans" individuals have higher rates of mental health issues and suicidality not because of the stigma attached to their status, but because they are, in fact, mentally unwell. The minority stress hypothesis has virtually no empirical support when tested properly.
