If ppl stopped paying that much for rent/property then the costs would go down but as long as ppl are willing to pay $2,500 for a 1 bedroom on North & California then that’s what the market will say charge ppl. Gentrification is a white liberal used to attempt to vilify improvements in neighborhoods. Gentrification only seems to be a topic when it’s white ppl moving into a neighborhood, why? It’s also silly & racist for ppl to assume that improved neighborhood means whites moving in as though white ppl are the only ones with money. I know this may come to a shock to everyone but areas of the city that are populated by non-whites used to be populated by whites & the term used for the change in demographics wasn’t gentrification.

Bent street signs means gangs in the neighborhood & gangs in the neighborhood means violence. While the champagne socialist are worried about “gentrification” in Humboldt Park the ppl who live there are looking for a life line.

@esaagar Weed most likely does have negative side effects for young people whether this study is accurate or not. My view is myopic, being an older daily smoker that began after 40 and not wanting children. I respect your viewpoint, the weed campaign is over the top I can admit.

While I am generally anti-alcohol (I don't drink, and I can't see the benefits of it. Learn social skills and how to relax), I'm also a realist. Just because you can use alcohol "responsibly" doesn't mean people do. Shit, in theory, you can use heroin responsibly—remember Dr. Carl Hart of Columbia. This doesn't mean that's how it happens. I don't smoke weed either (though I'm not opposed to edibles, especially after seeing the research on the cognitive function of THC users), but I know this: WAY more damage has been caused by alcohol than by marijuana. I don't care what a person chooses to do with their body, but when your choices affect other people, then we have to be real. Even if you become a zombie on marijuana, you're a generally harmless zombie. You are not a harmless drinker, however. Even the most "responsible" use comes at a steep cost. For example, here's a little-known piece of information: Everyone treats the legal limit of BAC as gospel, but approximately 15% of alcohol-involved automobile fatalities occur below the limit.

Today's Black American (Freedmen) inventor is Dr. James A. Parsons. Parsons was a metallurgist and chemist who invented a form of stainless steel named Durimet 20 or Alloy 20. Durimet 20 is universally prized as being highly resistant to corrosion. These factors led to it being used extensively in the Manhattan Project.
