I walked into the Apple Store last week with an iPhone too hot to hold. "Is something wrong with it?" The technician ran every test. Everything came back normal. Then he leaned in and said something I'll never forget: "There are 2 settings turned ON inside your iPhone right now that are slowly cooking it. Apple turns them ON by default. They quietly shorten your iPhone's lifespan." I asked the obvious question: "So Apple is wearing out my own phone on purpose?" He didn't answer. Here's everything he showed me in the next 5 minutes (save this, your iPhone will thank you):

The story surrounding Transgender Green MSP Q Manivannan is causing serious concern because it strikes at the heart of something many people already feel deeply uneasy about: TRUST in politics. Manivannan reportedly presented a story about growing up in poverty and hardship and starvation as part of a political identity. But investigations now claim they attended an expensive private school in Chennai, studied at a private university, and came from an upper middle-class family with doctors, engineers and academics. So he lied to present himself a working class hero and one of the people but that make believe story couldn’t be further from the truth. The fact Manivannan is also reportedly in the UK after arriving on a student visa has only intensified public anger and scrutiny especially as many feel he shouldn’t of been able to run for public office at all and I agree he shouldn’t of been allowed. People can debate immigration policy all day long, but surely most of us agree on one thing: If you want to stand for public office in Britain and ask the public for power, HONESTY matters. Because ordinary people are struggling enough already without feeling like politicians are carefully crafting emotional backstories to win support. Why are standards in public life now so low that someone can allegedly misrepresent huge parts of their background and still expect the public’s trust and hold public office. His make believe sob story should be reason to kick him out of office let alone he’s over here on a visa as well and shouldn’t have been allowed to run in the first place.

Reform 40%. Restore 7%. Burnham 43%. The Sunday Times poll for Survation at Makerfield shows the split right will bring in our most Lefty Prime Minister ever. Grateful if Nigel Farage and Rupert Lowe would put down their swords and pick up the phone.

As a Kiwi working in Oz for a year heres what I've learned- They cant tell difference btwn Maori & Islanders. Indonesia is more relevant to them than NZ is. No one can name our PM. Or any past PMs. That incl Ardern. They think we are dirt poor. They have no interest in us.

@james_rands @07Maggi @supertolerant I imagine your comprehension is lacking. Fish and chips once or twice a year does not ‘fast food’ make. There was no Deliveroo and all shops closed at 5 and were closed on Sunday.

I was young in the 80s/90s in the UK. I don’t remember my parents ever going out to eat, except when we were on holiday (in the UK). I don’t think they ever took me to a fast food restaurant, or ordered takeaway food. People today have no clue how working people lived. /1
Raven@raven_brah

Boomers seem to forget that fast food used to be a normal, everyday expense for them because it was affordable. You could get a burger easily on minimum wage, it wasn’t some fancy treat you had once a year as a reward for pulling yourself up by your bootstraps.

@supertolerant I am split on this, because on the one hand, I don't and cannot know what your personal experience was growing up, but on the other... this is such obvious bullshit it is genuinely offensive. You don't think your parents ever did fast food?

So there I was at the Lidl in a small formerly homogeneous Scots parochial town picking up a few Fri PM essentials. When suddenly at the checkouts a realisation I was the only native Caledonian surrounded by New Scots! All in the space of a generation, I'm not comfortable with it
