sorry! I have to share. I am working on a workshop about recipes from French Polynesia. I asked Meta Ai to create a picture of "Poe à la banane" which is a dessert made with bananas and coconut. This is what Meta Ai created: E A Poe with bananas

The best way to teach children how to be critical thinkers about social media (or any new information) is for schools to: 1. Make sure they know lots of core knowledge about science, history, language, etc so that false information is easier to challenge, and they possess robust frameworks of existing information 2. Teach them how to formulate logical arguments and syllogisms, and identify faulty reasoning. A few assemblies on fake news won’t cut it. The best way to nurture generations of informed critical thinkers, is by teaching them acres of knowledge-rich domain content, and how reasoning works. Critical thinking isn’t a skill separate from these things; it is composed of them.

@nessalovesshoes Combined classes is a common thing in New Zealand. I used to teach Year A and Year B, so my students will need 2 years to go over all the topics needed for our end of year exam. I had good feedback from ST.

This book from Amin Maalouf is fantastic! I think every educators should read it. I usually like highlighting quotes from books, but here I would have highlighted the whole book. Maalouf looks at the complexity of what constitutes identities

Congratulations to Dr Nathalie Philippe, senior lecturer in French, who has been awarded the prestigious 2023 John Dunmore #Medal for her "stellar work" over many years on New Zealand-French connections, particularly focused on #NewZealanders in France during #WorldWarI. 🏅

sometimes little things make a huge difference. Using Onenote makes my academic reading easier. It allows me to curate articles, highlight bits, make notes on the side, AND more importantly I can Ctrl+F specific words in the articles

I was in a meeting today and "explicit teaching" was mentioned (term not so common in NZ). I did a quick search on G Scholar with no great results in English. TONS in French, esp. from Canada! even lots of resources from France on google. Are we going to see a shift in NZ?
