There are a lot of people dunking on this guy and the arguments at the end of the day come down to "You are holding it wrong." But to be fair there has been nothing but a constant stream of "Stop holding it, Software Engineering is over shortly." I am not shocked that this has happened and I am 100% confident that this is not going to be the last one. The problem is the vogue nature of insane hype claims, most specifically from Dario himself being most guilty. People are lulled into a faux safety due to the belief that these LLMs are literal gods in their pocket. Infinite knowledge and speed for a simple monetary exchange. Cannot wait for ThePhilospher to explain how a loving God could delete a production database.

Every time I see a tweet saying “I can vibe code this in a weekend” - I think of the slack notification system.. It takes time, persistence and effort to get the details right. Sure, a lot of simple workflows will get vibe coded away. And maybe you can put this in Claude Code and get the code right in one shot. But quality, depth and great systems will still have value and take time. You can’t vibe code lessons. Now and forever.

many people make the mistake of thinking that consuming self-help content (like HG) is doing the work. they’ll watch a million videos about mental health and wonder why they still feel stuck. but unless they’re willing to get up off the couch and apply what they learn, nothing will change.

Someone out there seems to know that an LLM is not an AGI, nor will better LLMs ever be AGIs.

@AuthorDanM Sometimes holding boundaries can come with feelings of guilt because people have set expectations based on your past actions. You have to show yourself that you can survive it and you'll be proud of yourself over time.
