@cryptodavidw Advice to the poor from the rich is always a distraction from what the poor should actually do. In this case, the hypocrisy is instructive, and the ad hominem useful to the majority of us.

I believe these are called ad hominem or tu quoque fallacies. If you can't find an issue with someone's argument, attack them personally ("but, you don't do what you preach"). I think the more people know about these fallacies and call them out the better. Maybe we should have a fallacy bot on twitter that detect these?

Here’s Prince William and Keir Starmer flying in a taxpayer funded private jet to COP30 in Brazil to tell all us plebs how to save the planet. “Do as we say, but not as we do.”

I dont get it. If I run 50 miles a week or 100 miles a week, I sleep like crap. How is this even possible? Somebody please find me a magic solution. I just want at least 7 hours of sleep a night. 🥲

@unherd @sunraysunray Sport hasn't been about "civic friendship" for a while now, and unless we moderate or abandon capitalism, will not be again. Marketing to human vices is big business.

@tim_roozendaal It's not nonsense. For some, like me, wearing minimal running shoes is best. I acknowledge it's not for everyone, but I'm glad they exist - they have extended my running "career"!

We have to stop this nonsense. Multiple studies show that technologically advanced running shoes decrease load on areas that are related to most running related injuries. Running in minimalist shoes is sold to be a lifetime solution to prevent injuries but it often leads to: - Injuries - Decreased performance - Losing enjoyment in running If you believe in minimalist shoes, you have to run in the forest or on beaches, not on asphalt. I'm all for foot health and take the basics principles in day to day life, like wearing toe socks, frequently wearing toe spacers and wearing wide toe box shoes. But to give up enjoyment, perfomance and injury prevention because it is how we are supposed to run is not the path I choose. The 6-10 hours of running each week are not going to ruin your feet.
Nico Nyberg@KotiChef

@bensima @tim_roozendaal @grok Shoes that have zero drop and very little padding. Marketing has convinced most that millions and millions of years of evolution made a mistake with our feet and we should really have some weird slabs of fat on the bottom of our feet. Our soles are nerve packed for a reason.

Prospects for a single male in his 50s are kind of depressing. All the good ones are married and the leftovers are liberal. I think I’ll stay single.

Running a sub-13sec 100m at 50 is far more difficult than running a sub-6min one mile. Most 50yrs don't have the intrinsic speed, (as they didn't when they were young). Even if they were 'fast' as youngsters, the degradation of the body over 3 decades will prevent them ever running fast again. The demands and forces involved of training to run fast will brutally highlight the deterioration of joints, tendons, ligaments, and muscles - meaning repeated niggles and injuries; quality training is impossible. However hard it is to run a sub-6 one mile, it mostly involves the physiological, it doesn't have anywhere near the demands on the chassis. It's the body's structure which deteriorates the most in age.

Has Isak burnt his bridges with the fanbase after the way yesterday was played out? Or does the blame lie elsewhere? Is there anything to get the fans back onside or is it too late for some? #NUFC
