@STGshmups Oh, sometimes my pedantic nature gets the best of me. If you don't want to consider the original Roguelike to be Rogue, you can at least acknowledge that Hack came before Nethack. I'm being really nitpicky here, but I played a *lot* of Hack as a kid and don't want it forgotten

After 40 years, NETHACK, the original Roguelike, is getting a new major update. Still supporting MS-DOS. This is the first game that ever followed Rogue, arguably as influential and almost as well known. Impressive to see it getting an update in 2026. nethack.org/index.html

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to announce that the 0.2.0 version of Ultima VII Revisited, the Trinsic Demo, is now available for download at u7revisited.com ! Features of the new version: * The full intro is now complete. * Then entire plotline in Trinsic is now complete. * Buying from shopkeepers is now implemented. * Music and sound effects have been added. * The lighting system has been greatly improved. * Character cards that allow you to equip your characters are now implemented. * Pathfinding now allows characters to walk up and down levels. * Sandbox mode allows you to tinker with the game however you wish. * Help screens have been added for both demo and sandbox mode. * Patreon Island honors the patrons who have helped this project stay alive. Please give it a look at give me feedback! I want this version to be as good as it possibly can. Okay. I'm pushing the release date of Ultima VII Revisited back two days. It will now release May 2, 2026. I could release now but there are just a couple thing that I feel reflect badly on the game.

@exQUIZitely Of those choices, I've only played Ultima VI: The False Prophet. I have lots of memories with it because it came on the first real PC our family got. I never replay games these days, but I've recently been thinking I'd like to play Ultima VI again, but for real, WITHOUT cheating.

Okay, Ultima VII fans, I need your feedback. I'm having trouble with the fact that objects handle both single-clicks and double-clicks. If you ever wondered why it seems to take a moment when you click an object in Ultima before the bark labelling it comes up, it's because the UI system has to wait and make sure you're NOT double-clicking before it processes the single click. But the wait makes the entire system feel laggy, and I hate it, so I'm asking for solutions. So far I've got: * Don't use a bark over the object, use a tooltip in the bottom-right or something to give information about the object. (This could also provide information about how heavy and massive the object is, useful for figuring out WHY YOU CAN'T PICK STUFF UP). * Negate the wait and just clear the bark on double-click so at least you don't have the bark interfering with the use icon. * Leave it as-is. This is how the original Ultima did it, so this is how I should do it, even if I hate it. Your thoughts?
