Forcing engineers (all in relatively similar demographics) to deliver 12 times a year isn't going to do shit to influence any meaningful changes to user experience.

Interesting question on rolling out SQL in an org: should you put it behind a REST API and minimize SQL knowledge in teams? I would not do that: rather make sure everyone understands the tool and its semantics, embracing + using it to its full extent.
