Academics from certain countries face invisible difficulties that many are unfamiliar with or unaware of. An example from experience: I’m presenting in two symposiums at #ISSBD2022 that started yesterday in Rhodes/Greece but I’m not there. Why? Because I couldn’t get a visa. A🧵

@cassiekill I'm keeping my eyes on this thread in anticipation! I have to sit on a three legged stool that my husband made by hand on a greenwood carving experience day - not comfy! Would love a comfortable, versatile, relatively portable, and crucially small office chair 😂

So it looks like I’m going writing my thesis at the kitchen table. My back is ruined already and I’ve got another year ahead of me. 😳 I want a properly supportive desk chair that doesn’t look totally bizarre in a kitchen and doesn’t cost a thousand pounds. Ideas? #phdlife
