Zuko would be hated like crazy realistically. He's written like a post WW2 reformer but in practice achieved power like a foreign collaborator. And I can't imagine he'd have lots of the legitimacy of the Fire Lord carry over since was involved in violently deposing the last one.

@KnightOfTh3Wind I mean yeah but it usually comes with pushback and unrest. And the world of Avatar isn't medieval. Its early modern where people on average have a sense of nationhood and patriotism thanks to somewhat public education. So there would be more pushback than like a peasant kingdom.

There's plenty of strikes going on in Iran right now. Carpet bombings even. Yet OSInt accounts like this one have to show footage of painted helicopters on the ground and abandoned semi-trailers as evidence of military infrastructure hit. Why?
Because all of Iran's critical rocket infrastructure is located inside of the Zagros mountains, where it can't be touched. The US/Israel can't hit it. All they can do is show you how many civilians they can kill.
