@chrisman My local New Jersey city has a grassroots volunteer base soccer travel org. That's only $250 a season. Is this an anomaly?? Most of these kids end up playing varsity

there are these soccer teams for 9 year olds called "MLS Next". costs like ten grand a year. if you think your kid is a real prospect, ask the club director for a discount on the fees. you'll find out the truth real quick.
