If dentistry doesn’t work out, there’s shoemaking. If that doesn’t work, there’s cooking/baking. If that doesn’t work, I’ll just brush up on my musical instrument skills. If that doesn’t work out, we’ll go back to graphic designing. If that doesn’t work out, fashion designing will. If non works, we will teach all those skills. I sha can never be poor or jobless.

Do not rush out of the slippery bathroom to pick your calls. Cultivate the habit of calling back when you are done instead. Airtime is far cheaper than brain surgery.

I’ll be very honest with my opinion. God bless your cousin for all the sacrifices and responsibilities he has carried in the last 6 years, but there comes a point where he has to intentionally choose himself too. Because the truth is, you cannot keep pouring from an empty cup. To genuinely take care of family and show up for others, you first have to be alive, healthy, and mentally stable yourself. If he keeps neglecting his own wellbeing in the name of responsibility, he’ll only burn out and nobody truly benefits from that. And the hard truth is this, If anything ever happens to him today, people will grieve, life will still move on, and eventually someone else will step in to carry the responsibilities. That’s not to downplay his importance, but to remind him that he is not a machine. He needs to stop postponing his own rest, healing, and personal care. Most times, as long as people see you looking fine on the outside, they assume you’re okay and won’t ask the hard questions. So he has to intentionally check in on himself and prioritize his own wellbeing too. At the end of the day, na person wey dey alive and well fit truly show up for others.

Instant noodles are one of the most useless foods out there. They cause cancer, hypertension, irregular menstruation, kidney damage, stomach ulcers, and hormonal imbalance. Your child’s health is in great danger if you feed them consistently with instant noodles.

After I passed my second OAU pre-degree entrance exam, reality hit my parents hard that the tuition fee wasn’t something they could even afford. Resumption was close, and the money still wasn’t complete. At that point, I was already discouraged. But somehow, they pulled through. After they took loans here and there, I eventually paid, and resumed. The kind of hunger that dealt with me throughout that pre-degree year… let me not even go into that. After I finished and passed, I went back home and continued hustling, not really knowing what next would look like. Unknown to me, my parents had learnt from the experience of that struggle to pay my pre degree tuition fees. Fast forward to when I gained admission into OAU for my undergraduate program (MCB) and it was time to pay fees, my dad called me into the room. Then he brought out some old, dusty notes. This man had been saving little by little, right from when I finished pre-degree, preparing ahead for my university fees. He explained it and told me I must not let them down… I couldn’t hold it. Tears just dropped. That was the day it really sank in, I cannot afford to mess this up. I’m sharing this today because it’s my dad’s birthday. Say a prayer for him for me… that man don too try. 🙏🏾

Man. A few years ago, I was drinking at this joint I normally drink at in G.R.A when this young waitress served. Looked all of 17 & it was quite late. I was a bit bothered. She looked way too young. So I asked her. She was 17. Pretty young girl...

Anonymous I am a nurse. ER. Night shift. Man came in. Homeless. Feet infected. Badly. Needed treatment. Antibiotics. Wound care. But also. Shoes. His were destroyed. Causing the infection. Treated him. Bandaged. Prescribed antibiotics. Then went to my car. Had extra shoes. Donated. Meant for donation center. Gave them to him instead. “These might fit.” They did. Perfectly. He cried putting them on. “First new shoes in four years. Thank you.” Not new. But new to him. Clean. Intact. Dignified. He came back for follow-up. Feet healing. Shoes still on. Clean. Cared for. Treasured. “You gave me more than shoes. You gave me hope that people see me.” Started keeping supplies. Socks. Shoes. Coats. For homeless patients. Others donated. Built a closet. ER discharge supplies. Medical and human. Because healing bodies means nothing if they’re going back to conditions that caused the problem. That man got housing eventually. Job. Stability. Still has those shoes. Showed me last year. Worn now. But kept. “Reminder that a nurse saw my feet and my humanity. That’s when I started believing I could get back up.” He volunteers. Homeless outreach. Brings shoes. Socks. Supplies. “Because a nurse gave me shoes in the ER. Now I give shoes on the street.” Sometimes treating the wound means addressing what caused it. Good nurses know the difference.

I can’t believe it!!!! I’m a freaking Medical Doctor!!!!!😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 A journey of eight years Balancing multiple businesses and work despite how burnt out I got Balancing multiple leadership roles and responsibilities Carrying the weight of making my mom and late father proud Beating burnout several times and still getting back up I freaking did it!!! Years of crying on the phone with my sisters, agonizing over fatigue and losses The second frame is literally me texting the family group at 4am because of how EXHAUSTED I was. This feels so surreal🥹🥹

I actually pray for my patients When the prognosis is bad, I pray their hearts to hope When it's end stage and terminal, I pray our conversations lead to light I have a group of Christian doctors where we deliberately meet to pray for patients especially bad cases Few months ago, we had a terrible case the best of hands didn't know the way forward and the patient had given up, ready to pull the plug. Following that rounds, I took some time in the call room to really pray for him so the Holy Spirit instructed I visit, so I stayed back after work in order to visit in the night That night I came into the ward, had some good gist that consentingly led to conversations around faith, hope and the person of Jesus and we basically held a full blown service. Right that night, it just appeared a new burst of hope and direction for everyone. Earlier this week, I saw him from a distance walk out of the outpatient department with his two legs and my heart was merry! I may not be able to go to church every time because of work but I understand that I am God's workmanship created for good works in the health sector and for me? I was called!

If you want to grow, especially in academia, read this: You MUST learn how to handle criticism. We all receive an abundance of it. Learn to use it as a foundation for growth. Learn how to discard unfounded criticisms without letting them break you.
