@SkinnyTuna I’d put season 2 parks and rec above any of those shows in terms of quality of character, story, and comedy. And I think highly of all of those shows.

Want your blood to boil? The average private sector American has 10-14 paid vacation days per year if they’re lucky. Members of Congress have 98-105 vacation days per year paid for by private sector Americans. Totally unacceptable. It needs to change.

Wrote about this in February: the GA governor's race is arguably the most important one this year, an opening to break the Deep South liberal policy desert, and Democrats are sleepwalking into the May primary with two glaringly flawed candidates polling at the top of the field

This seems really bad but also like it was exactly the goal of systematically dismantling our federal government's standards & protections.

@flowidealism One of the most bizarre experiences was seeing about half of my fellow grad students spout off various “save the marginalized” theories in class and then say stuff like “I would never live or work in that part of the country” in casual conversation. Extremely classist stuff!

One of the things that alienated me from progressive academia was getting to graduate school and meeting self-proclaimed advocates of the working class who despised actual working class tastes and people.

one of the media's major failures is not questioning the president seriously. if/when he insults a reporter they sit quietly like frightened children hoping not to be scolded. if he replies to a question by deflecting it, ask the question again; ask follow-up questions. UK journalists are skilled at this. without a courageous press, any authoritarian will walk all over them & hold them in contempt. journalism isn't supposed to be about being "liked"--rather, representing ordinary citizens who do not have access to persons of power.

If we we go into this weekend with TSA unfunded, it won’t surprise me if all TSA agents stop working, shutting down US airports entirely, This is madness. It’s brutal to TSA and their families and it’s punishing to the travelling public. Congress must reach an agreement, before it’s too late.

Donald Trump called mail-in voting “mail-in cheating” on Monday. That same day, news broke that he just voted by mail in a Florida special election. His polling place is a 15-minute drive from Mar-a-Lago. He spent the last two weekends there. He mailed it anyway. I don’t think people realize how much healthcare costs are driving big companies to fire and not hire. It costs them $30k per family, per year for premiums and care. Most of that goes to the massive, vertically integrated insurance companies that send weekly bills that no one reviews in details. And it doesn’t include the company overhead to deal with it all. It’s usually the 2nd largest expense after payroll. Which is insane It’s far easier to blame AI than it is to blame Healthcare costs. Want to increase jobs, wages and improve affordability for every American ? Break up the biggest insurance companies. Make divest non insurance companies. They don’t need thousands of subsidiaries. That’s how they game and abuse the system and increase costs for all of us. Call your senator and tell them to support the BreakUp Big Medicine Bill by @HawleyMO and @SenWarren.
