Is the Future of Seychelles' Economy Powered by Tech? 🇸🇨 According to the Central Bank of Seychelles (CBS) Annual Report 2024, published last week, tech is no longer just a support sector — it's catching up fast. Seychelles GDP by Sector (2024): 💻 ICT: SCR 3.3B 🌴 Tourism: SCR 3.1B 🐟 Fishing: SCR 370M 📈 ICT has grown 130% in 4 years 📈 It’s now 9x larger than fishing 📈 It has nearly matched tourism ✅ The ICT sector, which grew 10% in 2024, contributed nearly half of Seychelles’ total 3.0% GDP growth. That said, I couldn’t find a clear breakdown of what specifically contributed to the ICT sector’s growth over the last 4 years. It would be great to see a drill down of what’s driving this shift. ⁉️ Meanwhile, the Finance and Insurance sector 💰 grew just 1.9% over 4 years (SCR 1.30B → 1.32B), which shows there’s a clear opportunity for modernisation 📱 — we need to move beyond consumption and start building market-appropriate solutions that work locally. That’s why, at @fusepay_app, we’re bullish on tech becoming the most impactful sector in Seychelles in the years ahead — and we’re building fintech solutions for businesses, with modern finance and technology at the core.
