CRAZY STAT 🤯
When Ken Irvine broke the all time try scoring record in 1969, he scored 2 tries and lost 18-26
When Alex Johnston broke the all time try scoring record in 2026, he scored 2 tries and lost 18-26
Shoutout to @Tubs_sport for letting me know about this 🫡

Racecaller @adam_is_calling ticks off another track from his bucket list today, calling the action at beautiful Towong today.
This leaves just ONE Victorian track that Adam needs to call at to complete the full set. Can you guess which current track remains? 🤔

@HarrisonReid12 This question will be revisited when the two clubs play off in the 2026 grand final.
English

Way-too-early hypothetical question: if Gold Coast win the flag this year, who would have had the more successful overall existence out of the expansion clubs - Suns or Giants?
One flag but 14/16 miserable years vs no flags but consistent finals contenders.

A sad day. For all the great footy commentary, reckon Dennis' broadcast of Kieren Perkins' 1500m win in Atlanta - "This is rare gold, the best kind of gold!" #valelegend

@JisChrudd Sorry mate, only just saw your reply. X does some strange things these days. Was a tough call because bought my first car after Diva won in 2003. Both did something special, but you're right re: MD and handicap conditions, plus CP win. The 33 in a row probably swung it ... just.
English

@g_mac15 Interested in your rationale between 1 and 2. The Diva did something never done before that’ll likely never been done again and won the WFA championship or Australasia. Doesn’t quite give her the edge over Winx?
English

To be honest it should be 1. Winx, 2. Makybe Diva, 3. Black Caviar, 4. So You Think, 5. Northerly.

Seeing this brings back some great memories of the legendary Territory sprinter Undue, who won his second Group 1 in the Oakleigh Plate. Scary that it was 19 years ago though. Covering this win was one of the best memories of my time with @TheNT_News. The $16 price even better.

@Mattunchained Thanks to @FormFocusHQ for the chart - only $750k since Marabi 2022. Lankan Rupee won with 56kg on 50kg limit 2014. Might have to go back further to find the “editions.”

When Sultan Zarawani decided to face Donald without a helmet (World Cup 1996 #OnThisDay)
Allan Donald - “When he walked in to bat he wore just a normal floppy hat. I didn’t know who he was. The game was going nowhere. I had just got a wicket. A furious Pat Symcox came to me and said ‘Listen, who does this guy think he is?’
During the huddle Jonty Rhodes took up the fight, saying the batsman had no idea about cricket. He had come into this game without any cricketing pedigree, and had apparently promised his players that if UAE won one game in the World Cup, he would buy each a Mercedes Benz or something like that.
But Jonty didn’t want me to bowl Zarawani a bouncer as he thought he couldn’t bat and I might hurt him. Someone else blurted out, ‘Just knock his head off.’ I said I’d bowl a bouncer, but make sure it went way over.”

@sportznut67 @Zeus_Cricket Reiffel added to the Australian side for the finals after starring for Australia A in the preliminary matches.
English

@Zeus_Cricket The difference was in the bowling. That A team batting line up was a beauty.

@CricketLibrary The man who charged into the clubrooms at Newborough after a district game while playing for Melbourne against Dandenong looking for the scoreboard operators who sledged him most of the day! The great S. Cook!!!

A former Australian Test match player turns 54 today. He only played 2 tests both back in 1997 with best bowling figures of 5-39 on debut in Perth. Who could it be? #AskTheLibrarian
English

He's just got out, but there's shades of a young Ricky Ponting about Lachie Shaw's strokeplay. That pull shot for six after his cut shot for four! Great to watch. #bbl15
