Kenya must have a goal of getting the most optimal value out of our Public assets. The current transaction is buyer driven and they are taking advantage of Kenya. Block sales even of listed companies are not based on Market Pricemand it is naive for Kenya to be cornered to give out our most priced asset for a song. The transaction happening between Diageo and Japanese Asahi cements that proposition. The share is currently trading at Ksh 244 but they are transacting at Ksh 590 per share. Rea Vipingo, Amson & Bamburi and many others are examples that are recent. The Government should open the bid to International players and get the best value for our Country, Kenya. We commend the Committee led by Hon Shurie Abdi Omar and Hon Kuria Kimani for the cordial discussion we had. We still have a chance to avert the imminent loss of value & GoK must do the right thing.
