It's extraordinary how comprehensively this unearned social capital was frittered away.
Trans activists spent literally a decade lying about the UK's Equality Act rather than campaigning to change it. They're still doing it.
The reason for having capital is to build on it, not burn it.
I've asked countless trans activists why they were squandering all that goodwill and it was like I was speaking a different language.

For the better part of a decade, trans activists had unprecedented political capital & could have cashed it in to accommodate 3rd, 4th or even 5th spaces. Anything to keep them happy. But they didn’t. Because the entire goal was to get men into women’s spaces & women to shut up.

In my sport of Darts we had 2 ballots at Welsh Open we had 98% vote for XX only in our sport, at England Classic in a secret ballot it was 100% , this was voted by women players .

@numptypants @paddlingdon @jan_murray At one venue i use - yes. The women were fine with him at their session (mixed sex) but not in their locker room - he demanded access anyway and the women stopped using their own facilities when he was there. This was mostly older women

I was trying to explain to someone yesterday why women defend single-sex spaces.
“Imagine you were forced into an enclosed space with a strange man and told to take your top off in front of him. No choice. No opting out.”
“That’s different,” they said. “That’s basically sexual assault.”
“Exactly,” I replied.
“Now imagine the man is wearing women’s clothes - but you still know he’s a man.”
You could literally see the penny drop.
This is the grown-up version of being plied with cider at a party, shoved into a cupboard with a boy - then being told you’re frigid if you don’t do what he wants.
Only now, frigid has been replaced with bigot.

@LambriniPapi @Ella_M_Whelan Because this bill doesn’t change the original abortion bill. Nobody at 39 weeks thinks, no, can’t be arsed, I’ll abort the baby. This is about late stage non viability, allowing women to have an abortion without the threat of prosecution in the most horrific of circumstances.

This kind of frothing hatred for women's freedom is just so out of touch with public opinion on abortion. MPs with even the tiniest liberal bone in their body need to have some courage and come out and defend our bodily autonomy, because at the moment Westminster is sounding like a house full of loons.

I dont think being overly emotional is particularly helpful when it comes to matters of the law but for the first time since becoming an MP I am genuinely sad about what parliament has done. I am sad because I know what the consequences will be. I am sad because I know nervous first time parents might give way to doubt and opt out of parenthood and how the reality of that means they'll be denied the greatest gift life will ever give them and instead inherit a life of monstrous guilt. I am sad because, now, healthy babies will be destroyed. I am really sorry that the UK has legalised full term abortion. For what it's worth, I voted NO. I am going to squeeze my children a little tighter and thank the universe a little more than normal this morning. You cannot become unpregnant. You just become the parent of a child you killed. That is the reality of life. We must face it. My babies.

Finished second in the league and gave up two forfeits themselves, receiving one forfeit from a team that also forfeited another 4 times. Won the GF against a team that had beaten them 2 weeks before the GF.

Interesting how some women who valiantly fought gender wars now using same tropes beloved of transactivists to defend decriminalisation of late term abortion.
- AS IF there will be thousands of sinister men who want to predate in changing rooms/ women lining up to get rid of their babies! (there won't be, but still need legal deterrent for the few, especially with pills-by-post in the mix).
- AS IF anyone would do that if they were not totally desperate/ in danger/ traumatised etc! (fact check: there are lots of different motivations, humans are diverse. Check out the stories of actual matricide! The idealisation of 50% of the population is stupid wherever you find it ).
- It is MY RIGHT to do what I want to my body, regardless of consquences for others ( how is that not just abject narcissism and selfishness? We aren't living in the 18th Century. Every possible form of contraception was already available. How can it be ok to prefer to try and get rid of a later term baby - especially when you have to go through labour either way - rather than deliver it for adoption?).
Starting to wonder where transactivists got this stuff from🧐

I've never noticed when looking at photos that British people don't have mailboxes in front of their houses. So does every house have a mail slot in the door, even if you live out in the country?
Are all of the mail carriers on foot, or do they just get out of the truck and walk up to every house in the country? I can't sleep until I know how this works.

@SarahLudford @oldvictheatre When I went to see Cabaret in London a few years ago the cubicles (women’s) and those with urinals (men’s) were all mixed sex. I used the loo with urinals which also had 2 or 3 cubicles

Nearly a year after the Supreme Court judgment, the @oldvictheatre still has its mixed-sex ‘Cublicle’ loos. Since it has a parallel set of ‘Urinals’, men get single-sex facilities while women are denied that privilege.

Let me take you back 116 years to the summer of 1910: I've cleaned-up this astounding autochrome of young Hélène Gélibert, engrassed in her crochet and enveloped in such beautiful iridescent light! It was taken in Monplaisir, France, by the Lumiere brothers and it depicts their niece (the daughter of Juliette Lumière). It is an original colour process from 1910 and not colourised.

@HistoryBoomer My son’s friend (a teenager) used to wait till it was clear when the gang was round and chat to me about trans stuff - she wasn’t buying it but was afraid to speak out to her friends/student cohort- she’s at Bristol uni which seems OTT. Poor girl asked me to keep our chats secret

I think Dave Roberts did not hear those rants, because people were extremely afraid to expose verboten views to someone who would deem them transphobic. So when the vibe shifted, it seemed astroturfed rather than authentic. But it was not only extremely authentic; it was the majority view I encountered.
