This is 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬𝐚𝐤𝐡 — a country that vanished overnight, an ancestral home of Armenians for thousands of years. Today, Azerbaijan is rewriting history of this land… Armenian heritage is being removed.

Korean Blogger Exposes Artsakh Under Azerbaijani Occupation, Revealing Empty Cities, Tourist Scams & Erasure of Centuries of Indigenous Armenian Identity ➖➖➖ A Korean travel blogger has shared a rare recent video documenting his journey through Artsakh, offering one of the few firsthand looks into the region under Azerbaijani occupation following the 2023 ethnic cleansing of its indigenous Armenian population. Traveling through Shushi, Askeran, and Stepanakert, YoungMin Skies captures empty streets, damaged landmarks, and what he describes as a systematic effort to erase Armenian traces and reshape the identity of the occupied region. His trip into Artsakh was part of a group tour, after attempts to obtain an individual permit proved nearly impossible. Visitors were not allowed to leave the van at any point, and access to sites was strictly controlled, shaping the narrative presented during the visit. The blogger also drew personal parallels between his family history in North Korea and the Armenians who have been cut off from their historical lands, highlighting a shared experience of displacement and loss. He described his drive through largely deserted territory as haunting. Upon reaching Stepanakert, the former capital, his first impressions were stark: “Tragedy, sadness. Everywhere you go, it’s just empty houses.” At the city’s entrance, he noted the heavy presence of Azerbaijani state symbols, including flags and music blasting through the streets. “Not enough Azerbaijani flags and blasting Azeri music. I get it, we’re in Azerbaijan,” he said. The blogger highlighted widespread abandonment and damage across the city. Many Armenian landmarks had been destroyed, remodeled, or repurposed. Yet the iconic “We Are Our Mountains” monument, also known as “Grandma and Grandpa,” remained intact. He interpreted this as a political decision: although the authorities appear intent on erasing Armenian heritage, the monument was left as a carefully controlled symbol to show that the government dictates which elements of the past are allowed to remain. “It is the only Armenian symbol standing here, because the government says it stays, despite wanting everything Armenian to be gone,” he said. Repeated requests to visit Armenian cultural and religious landmarks were blocked or redirected. Notably, he was denied proper access to the Holy Mother of God Cathedral in Stepanakert, one of the city’s most significant religious and cultural sites. “I wanted to see the main cultural icon here, which is the church, but they kept shutting us down… which made me suspicious about what they’re doing to it,” he said. According to the blogger, the group repeatedly asked to be shown more about Armenian history in the region, but they were repeatedly told they were running late. Ultimately, they were not shown much and received little information about the Armenian presence that once shaped the city. He also documented the destruction of former Armenian government and educational buildings. The former Artsakh parliament had reportedly been demolished and replaced with a “victory park,” while Artsakh State University had been renamed and remodeled after the war to reflect a new identity. “It is completely unrecognizable,” he said, reflecting on the city’s cultural and administrative landmarks. Throughout the visit, the tour consistently emphasized Azerbaijani narratives, leaving little room for independent exploration. By the end, the blogger said frustration had set in. “Stepanakert was supposed to be the highlight… but instead, we did not step foot in the city. The controlled narrative was getting tiresome.” Beyond the tours and cultural restrictions, the blogger also reported being scammed by local hotels. He described poor service, hidden charges, and deceptive practices, estimating that the incidents cost him around $2,400 in total damages. He also noted the stark contrast between the region’s display of oil wealth and the lack of real substance beneath the carefully curated image. The video is one of the rare recent firsthand accounts from an outside traveler, sharing footage and observations from Artsakh. It shows a region undergoing heavy transformation, where Armenian cultural traces are being systematically erased and the region’s identity is being tightly controlled and reshaped.

While the world enjoys summer in peace, over 120,000 Armenians from Artsakh remain forcibly uprooted from their ancestral homeland. This isn’t history, it’s happening now. A modern-day genocide has taken place before our eyes, with no guarantee of return, no justice served, and ongoing indifference from the international community. Let this be a reminder: We do not move on. We do not forget. We demand accountability. #Artsakh #StandWithArtsakh #EthnicCleansing #HumanRights #ANCC #JusticeForArtsakh #NeverForget

A fundraiser poster from America about the Genocides back in 1915. You read in the bottom: Armenia-Greece-Syria-Persia Turks tried to prevent journalists and photographers from documenting the atrocities, threatening them with arrest. Nevertheless, substantiated reports of mass killings were widely covered in Western newspapers. On 24 May 1915, the Triple Entente(Russia, Britain, and France) formally condemned the Turks for "crimes against humanity and civilization", and threatened to hold the perpetrators accountable.

The "Death Marches" of the Pontic Greeks were one of the most horrific aspects of the Pontic Greek Genocide, carried out by the Ottoman Turks (and later by Kemalist forces) between 1914 and 1923. Turks found a way to make themselves the most barbarious people in history. During these marches, thousands of Greeks—mainly women, children, and the elderly—were forced to leave their homes and walk for hundreds of kilometers under inhumane conditions, usually through mountains and deserts, with little or no food, water, or shelter. These deportations were ostensibly for "relocation" purposes, but they were in fact designed to lead to mass death through exhaustion, starvation, disease, and exposure. It was a planned Genocide. Simple as that. Many perished along the way or were killed by guards and local bandits. The goal was the systematic extermination and ethnic cleansing of the Greek population from their ancestral homelands along the Black Sea coast of modern-day Turkey. These death marches are now widely recognized by scholars as part of a broader genocide that targeted not only Greeks, but also Armenians and Assyrians by the Young Turks and Kemalists. WE NEVER FORGET. 353.000 Greeks 1.500.000 Armenians 700.000 Assyrians

BREAKING: Vicken Euljekjian, a Lebanese-Armenian civilian, has now entered the 15th day of a hunger strike in an Azerbaijani prison, where he has been unjustly held since late 2020 under conditions widely condemned by human rights organizations. The alert regarding his hunger strike was issued by Luciana Minassian, director of the Buenos Aires chapter of the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief (SOAR), via a post on X (formerly Twitter). In response, SOAR submitted an urgent letter to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), calling attention to Vicken’s deteriorating condition and appealing for immediate humanitarian intervention. “Vicken Euljekjian’s demand is heartbreakingly simple — a phone call to his wife, Linda. Just one call — a basic human connection. That is all he seeks,” the letter states. Euljekjian was taken captive by Azerbaijani forces on November 10, 2020, just hours after the trilateral ceasefire agreement was signed to end the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war. He had traveled to Shushi to retrieve personal belongings. As he attempted to return to Armenia, he was detained at an Azerbaijani checkpoint and later convicted on terrorism charges — a ruling widely condemned by Armenian and international human rights advocates as a politically motivated act of persecution. His continued imprisonment — and now his hunger strike — highlight Azerbaijan’s ongoing violations of international law, particularly regarding the treatment of civilian detainees post-conflict. Human rights groups have repeatedly urged the global community to intervene and hold Baku accountable for the unlawful detention and mistreatment of Armenian civilians.

On April 24, 1915, Ottoman authorities arrested and deported hundreds of Armenian intellectuals, artists, and community leaders from Constantinople—marking the beginning of the Armenian Genocide. This calculated strike aimed to eliminate Armenian leadership and silence a people. Most of those arrested were later killed. We remember the lives and legacies of those lost, April 24, 1915, often referred to as Red Sunday, marked the start of the systematic deportation of Armenian intellectuals—an act that is commonly seen as the beginning of the Armenian Genocide. On that fateful night, 235 to 270 Armenian leaders from Constantinople were arrested on the orders of Minister of the Interior Talaat Pasha. They were taken to holding centers near Ankara, and following the adoption of the Tehcir Law on May 29, 1915, many were relocated within the Ottoman Empire, where most were killed. The intellectuals arrested included some of the brightest minds of the time. Among the victims were Stepan Ayvazyan, Nshan Dumanian, Hagop Andonian, Parsegh Shahbaz, Kevork Nazaretian, Siamanto, Roupen Zartarian, Kegham Parseghian, and Tlgadintsi. While some, like Aram Andonian and Komitas, survived, the loss of these intellectuals and leaders remains one of the most profound tragedies of the genocide. Remember their names: Levon Aghababian, Khachatur Malumian, Levon Bardizbanian, Hampartsoum Boyadjian, Dikran Chökürian, Nazaret Daghavarian, Melkon Giurdjian, Aris Israelian (Dkhruni), Diran Kelekian, Karekin Khajag, Shavarsh Krissian, Ruben Sevak, Yenovk Shahen, Siamanto, Daniel Varoujan, Rupen Zartarian, Krikor Zohrab, and many more.
