I have some good news. Something lovely happened today. I became a Grandad for the first time to my beautiful Granddaughter Sophia Rose. Both my daughter and baby Sophia are doing well and to say I’m chuffed is an understatement. ☺️

@THERussellGrant I was born in Harefield in ‘63 Russell. My Dad was the local Bobbie and I was born in the police house. Small world!

It was Mary Rand winning 🥇 at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 when I first discovered my British 🇬🇧 pride. I was a wee lad of 12 living in a council flat in Harefield, Middlesex and I remember the tune ‘Good Morning Tokyo’ and my mum and dad bought the 45 mph which I still have called ‘Tokyo Melody’. I felt so proud and happy when Mary won. For me the start of galaxy of sporting Olympian stars Lyn Davies, Mary Peters, Alan Wells, Ann Packer … but for now I’m remembering Mary Rand and thanking her for inspiring something in me that has never left me 🇬🇧 May she rest in peace and her loved ones be given comfort.
