hello @HMRCcustomers why is there no contact details on your app? why cant customers talk to someone or get an insightful (non bot) response. I have a simple over pyt of PAYE refund claim I submitted on 16/4 but your site says i cannot expect a response till 29/5!.

@AngelaRayner I'm interested in how long it took to get HMRC to make a decision for you? it is currently taking them over 8 weeks to process a simple refund of PAYE for me - any advice on how to get them to speed things up gratefully accepted. congrats on your outcome & good luck moving fwds

I welcome HMRC’s conclusion, which has cleared me of any wrongdoing. I have been exonerated by HMRC of the accusation that I deliberately sought to avoid tax. When purchasing a home of my own with a mortgage, I did not own any other property and had no personal financial interest in the court-instructed trust set up to manage my son’s financial award. I was advised by experts that I should pay stamp duty at the standard rate. I set out to pay the correct amount of tax. I took reasonable care and acted in good faith, based on the expert advice I received, and HMRC has accepted this. I have always sought to act with integrity, and I believe politicians should be held to high standards - that is why I resigned from government and cooperated fully with HMRC.  I wanted to ensure that I paid every penny that I owed, and have done so. I am relieved that my family can now move on - and that I can get on with my job.

@HMRCcustomers but can you explain why a simple 25/26 full year pattern overpayment and repayment takes 8 weeks to process when one can do the calculation on the app in less than 2 mins?

@garymoules Hi Gary, The dates given by that tool are an estimate, changes can happen if we have a greater number of forms come in. Steve

@HMRCcustomers hello the date for a response from you has shifted from 29th may to 8th June- what is going on???? this is a simple claim for refund of overpaid tax inv25/26. it csn be worked out in less than 2 minutes on your app. please advise asap

@garymoules Thanks Gary. Claims are processed in date received order so you should expect a response after the 29 May. If it goes beyond that date, I'd recommend a call to an adviser on the helpline: gov.uk/find-hmrc-cont… Rob.

@HMRCcustomers hi thanks for getting back to me. I submitted my refund claim on line on 16th april. its a pretty straightforward PAYE overpayment. yes i completed the timeframe calculation which indicates I should not receive a response till after 29th May.
