@SeddSezz I agree, the sooner a few MP’s and ministers are imprisoned, the sooner we will have a government that is accountable for its actions.

We wasted £10billion on PPE during Covid. Faulty PPE, no less. We spent another £20billion on the NHS app which people used for a week at the most. This level of waste is heinous and obscene. Everyone responsible for handing out these contracts and making these decisions should be in prison.

If you earn over £72k, you're in the top 10% of UK full-time earners. Yet for many it still doesn't feel like enough. So…is it an income problem, a spending problem, or a tax problem?

What I don't get about climate change deniers is why they're opposed the green transition. Say they're right and its a hoax. We still end up with a high-tech industrial revolution, more trees in urban centres, cooling systems, public transport, more EVs! Why is that bad?

@gavinmoolman @PhilipProudfoot Just trying to understand the principle here - is it that you want an even playing field, and subsidies suggest favoritism by the government for certain sectors?

@XH_Lee23 And instead of trees, we build unproven carbon capture machines. Reminds me of the story of NASA spending millions to develop a pen that worked in space. The Russians solved the same problem with a 10p pencil!

@Jacksonsrule Is it really their job to do that? They create the jobs, the government is supposed to create an environment for growth and assuming all the other apparatus works, like education and the safety nets then there shouldn’t be any poverty

If you’re not a citizen of the UK, you shouldn’t be entitled to a penny from the government. I say this as a foreign resident: contribute to the economy and integrate, or bugger off. The ‘benefit’ is being allowed in to a great country, not a cheque from taxpayers.
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK

🚨 NEW: Shabana Mahmood is considering relaxing her immigration reforms so the 10-year wait for indefinite stay does not apply to "Boriswave" migrants They may instead just face longer waits for benefits to ease pressure on Andy Burnham from Labour MPs [@thetimes]

@KathrynPorter26 @neso_energy Recently watched Chernobyl again. It was scary stuff, disaster largely due to cheap/faulty design and the people in charge not being transparent and not sharing vital information. Slightly ironic that modern day Britain is mirroring old Soviet practices.

Today @neso_energy has published this blog about the events of w/c 22 June, no doubt in response to the questions about 23 June It's more of the old nothing to see here nonsense On 23 June the system was outside the "safe operational limit" for extended periods and this was resolved only when "Emergency Assistance" was instructed on the interconnectors to France and the Netherlands The names "safe operational limit" and "Emergency Assistance" are relevant here. They indicate there IS something to see here Craig Dyke claims "no customer demand was disconnected". This is not true. EA on the interconnectors means you cut off interconnector demand ie you're cutting the demand of other countries Industry contacts tell me this has not gone down well in these other countries who think we should use our own reserves before cutting them off Blaming "adverse interconnector flows" is pathetic. Interconnectors flow both ways. Is NESO seriously saying it assumes they will always import to us?? Instead of half truths why not explain... 1. Why was the frequency so low for so long? 2. Was there any reserve left? 3. Why did they cut interconnectors before doing voltage reduction? 4. Why was there no EMN or Notice of High Risk of Demand Control issued that day? 5. Were any transmission constraints violated? 6. Would the grid have been secure if NSL or Viking, the largest infeeds, had tripped? These are simple questions. Let's have some candid answers @Ed_Miliband @ClaireCoutinho @AndrewBowie_MP @griffitha @NJ_Timothy @TiceRichard @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @cmackinlay @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @mattotele @jonathan_leake @afneil @ofgem @energygovuk neso.energy/news/managemen…

@skumWgmi My shares have lost value this last month, can I get compensation? This idea is like taxing people on what they have in the bank, even though the money going in was already taxed on payday!

You can't tax rich people on unrealized gains from stocks because "it's not real money until it's sold." So explain to me why my property taxes keep going up based on the unrealized value of my house? I didn't sell it, didn't cash out and didn't even make a profit. But somehow I'm paying taxes on paper gains every single year. Interesting how "unrealized gains" only become a problem when wealthy folks are involved.

@PaulEmbery We aren’t wealthy and we are looking at our options, current direction of travel isn’t great. If it gets any worse then looking elsewhere could be an option if you have a little capital and a skill or two. We have family who moved to Slovenia a few years ago. That’s an option.

@gavinmoolman @PhilipProudfoot We subsidize dirty and polluting industries to the tune of Hundreds of Billions a year. They already have the infrastructure, and we subsidize them anyway. You don't seem to notice that though, only the PR guy telling you about some Solar or Windmill subsidies.

Can we stop pretending we have a democracy in Britain? Every few years we go into a booth to perform our little ritual. Then we get the opposite of what we vote for. Every single time. Every person in the House of Commons, with very few exceptions, is an imposter and a fraud.

@ZackPolanski The UK has done more and continues to do more yet surprise, surprise, no halting the climate. I think we all know trying to alter the course of the climate is folly. Recently read that life will end in 1.8 billion years, ironically, as we will run out of CO2.

These deaths are on the hands of politicians who failed to act over years. Putting profit over our safety refusing to take action - now failing to protect us from its impact. We need maximum working temperatures. Insulated homes. Cooling in schools, hospitals and care homes.

More than 2,700 deaths linked to May and June heatwaves. Dr Clair Barnes, from Imperial College, has warned that if we don't slow the rate of global warming, the number of people dying from heat stress will overtake the number of people dying during the winter

@Jenny_1884 For governments, Labour ones in particular, pensioners are an easy target. By definition they are older, so have previously seen the disastrous effects of socialism. As such, pensioners are not really their voter base, so they couldn't give a stuff.

So apparently Andy Burnham is likely to scrap the Triple Lock for pensioners because it’s becoming unaffordable but this Government can find plenty of money for illegal migrants who rock up on our shores who have paid NOTHING into our economy. This government puts foreigners before their own people. How this is even legal beggars belief. If they can find the money to house illegals then they can find the money to pay pensioners the paltry amount they receive.

Has anyone ever heard such nonsense? The Church of England have said they have to give away £100million in “slavery reparations” because it is a moral imperative as a Christian investor to do so. This is absolutely outrageous
