@frociaggini @THR I'm not referring to that. Your comment says no one knows who he is
He's an Oscar winner, and one of the major contemporary Hungarian directors. He's not some unknown
English

Legendary Hungarian filmmaker László Nemes has spoken plainly about “an orgy of antisemitism overtaking the West.” hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-n…

@EvanAboutCinema 2009 - 2012 is a crazy strong lineup. 2010s started at the top
English

@scottyDunham3 @kringrush @MrCfromTP many people havent heard of most movies. De Palma is too famous a filmmaker to have something niche , but those are certainly lesser known
English

Do cinephiles realize they sound like losers?
Le popular thing le bad, niche movie good 🤖
sam.@suddenxfear
the only movie called obsession that you need to watch was released in 1976
English

@kringrush @MrCfromTP and this is not one of the niche ones. De Palma is too big to have something niche
English

@BenjaminButcher @Astrostic you mean best of the Palme winners of say, last 25 years or best of the cannes competition movies its year of 2001?
English

@generic46 @Astrostic The Son's Room is maybe the best of the bunch!
English

Le Festival de Cannes 2026 se referme ce soir. En 2027, le Festival de Cannes fêtera ses 80 ans, et voici peut-être ce que l’on pourrait retrouver sur la Croisette.

@ChristerEm @fuzzyyarns 2022 had albert serra , reichardt, Cronenberg, dardenne, etc . How was EO the only watchable one?
English

@fuzzyyarns Apart from the fact that awards are rubbish, the prix de jury quite often goes to far better films than the two highest awards. Last year was a prime example. EO was the only watchable competition film in 2022. Even Oliveira won it in 1999.
Cannes, France 🇫🇷 English

Reminder: BEST DIRECTOR at Cannes is the actual 3rd place. Not Jury Prize. Jury Prize is more like 4th place.
Moviewise@MrMoviewise
Time to talk about my favorite Cannes category: *Best Director* It goes often ignored, or is treated as some type of extra Jury Prize, but let’s give it the respect it deserves. Which films would I say are in contention for the Prix de la mise en scène?
English

@Tylenol_Enjoyr @DiscussingFilm How many actors his age make an effort to work with the directors he does? Megalopolis is a terrific choice , even as an uneven movie
English

@DiscussingFilm Adam Driver has not been picking wrll in recent years. This is the man who said yes to Megalopolis
English

James Gray’s ‘PAPER TIGER’, starring Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, and Miles Teller, sadly follows the clichés of every New York crime drama you’ve ever seen.

@nerdyMarius @redvineski In the video he sounds sarcastic about that though
English

@redvineski he literally said he was kidding 30 seconds later
English

google Licorice Pizza cinematographer and then google Tony 2026 cinematographer
Sid@sbskelpie
Blue Heron q/a with Sophy Romvari and Matt Johnson. Matt loudly proclaimed that “Licorice Pizza is a piece of shit.” I commended the bravery.
English

@sbskelpie He should stay in his lane, trashing guys like Aster and David robert Mitchell. PTA is way out of his league
English

@spideylumax many established and important filmmakers who started decades before had movies so yes. If your question was about directors who started in the 2020s, it's a different conversation
English

@MrMoviewise A phrase nobody has said since 2016
But Orphan was well directed
English

@TwitrGrlCassidy @Variety Variety is a Hollywood trades publication
They report on the industry of film and TV
Almodovar is a massive name in film speaking at the most important film festival
It's not cool to be ignorant and boast about it
English

@Variety Why do you keep doing stories on people that 99 percent of the public doesn’t recognize?
English

Pedro Almodóvar declared in #Cannes that "Europe must never be subjected to Trump."
"I don't want to judge anyone, but I think artists have to speak out about the situation in which they live in contemporary society. It's a moral duty. Silence and fear is a symptom that things are going badly. It's a serious sign democracy is crumbling. On the contrary, creators must speak out... the worst thing that could happen would be to remain silent or to be censored. We have a moral obligation to speak out... we have to act as a shield against this madness."
