@Nat_cfc If you place him in the context of €100m - 150m transfers, he’s already outperforming most. Felix, Lukaku, Coutinho, Pogba, Hazard, Dembele all failed to deliver consistently. Only a few like Kane, Bellingham and Rice have clearly done more than him. That matters.

I’ve not seen him play more minutes for Atletico Madrid this season so I don’t wanna judge. Baena back in Villarreal used to be a chance creation demon. Two seasons in a row and he topped the charts with the most chances created in Europe. He was one of Villarreal’s best attackers. Didn’t matter if he played as a LW/#10 I still believe his gameplay hasn’t been maximized because Lookman is more suitable in his current position compared to Baena. With Lookman there, he will only play a secondary role there. He’s a chance creation demon wasting his years at Atletico.

Biggest change Diego Simeone has made is for Atleti to be more comfortable in transitional games, they pose a lot more threat now. Change which has allowed him to continue for 14 Years. Had the feeling, he was saying to his team ‘we only need one, we can fear Barca but still hurt Barca. If we go 1/2 down, still believe you can score’ kinda mentality. As much as there was a lot of controversy, got to give Atleti credits brought it more technical players which enables them to offer more. Great game of football though!
