@gershon_JP @Mottel @nytimes If that's a sifardi Torah, it's rolled on the inside. It just has a different cover.
English

Interesting @nytimes article, but there is a mistake almost immediately.
The Bnei Menashe don't claim descent from Manasseh, king of Judah, but rather the tribe of Manasseh (from the tribal patriarch, Manasseh the son of Joseph) which was one of the 12 tribes of Israel and one of the 10 lost tribes. Not Judah at all.

Hari Kumar@HariNYT
They want to go to Israel for religious regions but living standards are also a consideration. Their departure is delayed but now happening. Today 250 Bnei Menashe landing in Tel Aviv. @travelli @atulloke A Lost Tribe in India Makes Its Exodus to Israel nytimes.com/2026/04/23/wor…

By this definition Nineveh was the least walkable city in history
Casey Handmer@CJHandmer
You can walk from one side to the other in a day. If you live walkability enough it is ideal.

@mizrahi_israel Question: I had an edition in double elephant folio, where did that come from?
English

A stunning 1863 Trieste Haggadah — 58 copper engravings, an elegant Italian translation & a bold vision of Jewish life. One of the 19th century's greatest Hebrew printing achievements.

@xenocryptsite He probably gets some credit for jumpstarting the Thanksgiving season a week early, and maybe that set them up to ride this wave as well as they have. But the counterfactual isn't October grosses all year.
English

@xenocryptsite This is a higher peak but grosses double every November. It's the scale that's unusual, not the shape.

@bradwolfdesign I'm not a pro but I think this would make the most sense. Keeps the W intact and the entry and exit points make sense.

@ASPertierra you don't get to pick the title! In this recent example Bruckner told me she wanted "Biblical Encounters in Vernacular Literature".

@SidelockHolmes just thought of a new guy. "The Guy who carefully tracks who provoked whom at 2014 Israeli-Palestinian clashes, for future reference" Oh how i hate him

@gershon_JP The one incident doesn't really matter, meaning what exactly?
English

This is actually correct. Obviously the one incident doesn't really matter, but you can see her grab his prayerbook at the beginning of this clip: youtube.com/watch?v=2S7uZA…

Today, on the erev of Passover, is the 66th yahrzeit of Rav Chaim Heller. In his memory, Prof. Aviad Hacohen and I have published a nearly 3,000-word profile in @MakorRishon on his deep friendship with Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, including remarkable previously unpublished letters in which The Rav urgently appealed for financial support on behalf of Rav Chaim Heller. An expanded 10,000-word English version (with full documentation) will appear today at *The Seforim Blog*.
